Richard III ?? I think it's just his cloak collar turned up on the right-hand side for some reason. Probably just done a Venusian shoulder-throw and hasn't had time to straighten up yet!
Oooh the UNIT sofa, full house, well done! And excited to see Pete McTighe and Joy Wilkinson on the newWho sofa, 'Kerblam' was much fun with lots of classic-era fan nods (and fooled me totally!) and I loved 'Witchfinders'.
Peter writes the fantastic booklets we've had for these sets as well, so he's already got his classic Who bonafides out there!

Must admit I’m surprised at how many of these they’re doing — and a bit jealous of new buyers. I wish season sets had been around years ago, before I’d bought all the individual story DVDs.

Bit annoyed that apparently it won't be out until October in the US which is also when we're getting The Macra Terror...why can't we just get things when the UK gets them?

I wonder if that date will be moved to July pretty soon...it seems to be October-ish is when we'd expect the next set. If they don't release this box till then, and the UK release schedule remains on the same 3-4 month pattern, then the US/Canada would be a release behind.

Well, that was an easy preorder. Went with Zoom this time instead of Amazon, given Zoom's track record for sending them out early.

I almost think they made S12 so limited so that people would be scared of missing future sets and jump on the preorders! Definitely a good sales tactic so!

What an unexpected and delightful treat the promo videos for these blu ray releases have been! Seeing Jo in action again was loads of fun. I, of course, pre ordered this instantly. Love Pertwee and Manning and I'm very fond of this season.

Region free blu-way players are the best entertainment investment. On top of that...the vast majority of releases say their discs are region-coded do on the box, but a ton of disc publishers don't actually bother. Plus there are more than a few BD player manufacturers who build their units with an easy 'hack' to make them region free--usually just a setting buried under half a dozen menus, or accessible only by pressing the buttons on the remote in a certain sequence. (Heck, my PS4 plays both Region A and Region B Blu-rays without so much as blinking, and I never had to touch a single menu option) I'm not saying anyone should assume that either one of those are the case; the last thing anyone wants is to spend a boatload of money on some Blu-rays only for them not to work. I'm just saying, at this late stage in the Blu-ray lifecycle, it's nowhere near as stringently enforced as things were in the early days of DVD.

The picture of Jon doesn't look quite right, it's as if he's hunching his neck with one shoulder higher than the other. Special feature of Pertwee auditioning fir Richard III? The reason why the picture of Jon doesn't look right is because it's flipped. Also, the picture of Jon isn't even from Season 10. It's from Season 11. They've reversed the polarity of the pixel flow!

Seriously, they must have initially underestimated the demand for these season sets especially when word got round about how great the S12 set was, and it's Tom One, with 'Genesis', so was always likely to be a peak seller even for those not collecting every season.
I think they'd be fully justified in levelling the playing field by doing an extra run of S12 in the 'limited edition' packaging now they have real sales data to base their production runs on. Would get a lot of goodwill from fans who missed out on S12 and who would mind?. I'm sure most of us are loving these sets because they're brilliantly produced, not because they're 'exclusive' in some way.

I guess it was pretty hard to estimate demand at all. For everyone excited about the range, with the best picture, audio and features these stories have ever had you had someone else vocally saying they were fine with DVD and wouldn't be buying these. Having to gauge how many would be willing to make the jump must have been hard. One of our major posters on here even called them rip-offs despite being, per story, cheaper to buy than the DVD range even now the DVDs are cheap as chips. However - and I stress he was only involved as a consultant this time - Steve Roberts of the RT was on Gallifrey Base telling people not to worry there would be plenty for everyone who wanted one, and he made it clear that any reprints having the deluxe packing depended on sales otherwise it'd be standard boxes. Well, S12 sold out mere days after release, before everyone got a payday behind them for one, so there clearly wasn't enough for all. Bafflingly we haven't of course seen ANY reprint, deluxe or standard amaray case like the US sets. I think it's been said they've made more of the S19 and S18 sets after being surprised with demand. Well...it would only seem fair to me to at least print the differing amount they were surprised by - the amount between what wasn't enough for S12 but is for S18. It would fly off shelves, probably to scalpers largely - but at least there'd be the same amount out there. It doesn't matter very much with the limited edition model but there are going to be fans who don't collect this range at all now because a major cornerstone of it is going for hundreds of pounds at collectors corners and isn't available to them affordably. We know how fans work too - even a reprinting in standard packaging wouldn't satisfy those who want uniformity. I don't quite get it myself. They're leaving money on the shelf having S12 out of print. Every time one sells at silly money on ebay (and there are a lot there) it's a 40 quid hit for BBCWW. They could at least produce a standard edition, I think. All the hard work in creating the discs is done, it's just some packaging and printing to be sorted. Anyone who would object to this happening - and there will be some, there always are when things have become valuable - isn't a fan, just a collector. Subtle, but distinct, difference. One does it for love, one for the value. If they reprinted some tomorrow I'd have zero objections. I don't see it happening quite yet, and I don't see it being in the same packaging but we'll see what happens. We're a couple of months from the first anniversary of the range. I think a year after sell out is more than apt for a repring.

Love Pertwee and Manning and I'm very fond of this season. The others have been funny but this one was really quite fun too but more than a little touching with it. I was really quite chuffed to see Stewart Bevan back, even for a few minutes. I think this is the only time outside of the sketch on the Green Death DVD with Mark Gattis he has reprised the role. Katy didn't like Jo being married off and wasn't keen on the Cliff character being the one to take her away from the TARDIS but she's game in this wee clip. Maybe she's made peace with him. Anyone who does want to hear Katy and Stewart together and doesn't know about it - Iris's Midwinter Winters (Season 3, Story 3) has Stewart as the main guest star, a parody of John Nettles' Midsomer Murders character.

Where do my fellow Australians get their UK blurays/dvds from these days, seeing as we're barred from ordering from amazon.co.uk, and zoom don't ship outside of Europe?
I have been ordering from Zavvi recently, but they are slow, they don't package things well, and aren't exactly cheap either (comparatively). Any other options?

In the DWM article on season 18 there was a comment from one of the folks who work on the bluray, the gist of which was that the trend is download and physical media is in decline and they were surprised by S12 bucking this trend

As you say it's hard to understand the rationale for not doing it - the major costs have been incurred, it is only the physical production costs of the sets they would have to bear and there is a guaranteed demand in the market. For a commercial organisation that is supposed to turn in a profit, it seems like a no-brainer.
If anyone's worried about the limited edition aspect of it, they can always make a very minor, inconsequential change to the booklet or something to make it different.

If you're looking specifically for the UK version of these sets, I'm not sure if I can help. If you're just looking for the Region B versions in general, I can recommend JB Hi-Fi. They not only have the best price I can find for these complete season sets (comparable with the Zoom UK pricing), but if you've got a store near you, regardless of what day of the week an item is released they will have it on the shelf at the start of the release week, so you can technically get things several days early They also deliver, and they're prices aren't too bad either (especially if you buy in bulk, from memory).
