Horror anthology and ghost story fans, Andy Nyman and Jeremy Dyson have adapted their sell-out stage play of the same name into a film by Lionsgate who have recently uploaded a film trailer to up and coming film adaptation. It seems to be an affectionate throwback to classic British anthology chillers such as Dead of Night and the Amicus portmanteau productions of the 1970s and the pacing of a good MR James tale of building up plenty of atmosphere rather than the modern trope of jump scares for the sake of it for every 5 minutes (just because). I believe it went down a treat when it was given a special showing last year at the BFI Film Festival. Due for release 13th April www.youtube.com/watch?v=oOoZgb7mycg

This looks brilliant - and what a good cast! I'm looking forward to this. Thanks!

James fan (clue in my username!) {Ghostly Spoiler}The seashore setting, the figure on the horizon and the bedclothes moving without (human) assistance... Definitely one to look out for. Cautiously, and during daylight...

Nyman also seems to be sporting the same sort of hat that Michael Hordern wore in the film adaptation of 'O Whistle..'

I had no idea it was based on a play Here's a segment taken from The Culture Show on Jeremy and Andy's Ghost Stories play and explaining their childhood influences of watching horror on TV (BBC2 horror double-bills, Thriller, Hammer House, Tales of the Unexpected, etc.) and reading junior and teen horror in books, comics and magazines of the 1970s. www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=5&v=fMbo-88QhXc
