It Takes a Thief. That was a fluffy soufflé of an audio.

Just finished the stories. Overall I enjoyed the series and did like that she did progress through the four stories, learning from each one. As others have said it is mostly fluff. I'd have preferred it, if she did have a formal alliance with UNIT.

Listened to this last week. Enjoyed it, can't fault it.
A lot of others have said it was fluff - I don't know if I would go that far but it was more lightweight than, say, Ravenous but I don't see that as a bad thing. BF need to offer us a bit of variety, if everything was the dark heavy stuff we'd all end up bored and depressed.
This certainly deserves a second series and I would buy it. I hope I am wrong but I fear this will end up overlooked simply because it will fall below most people's radar in a marketplace already crowded out with DW spinoffs starring female guest stars (Jenny, River, Vienna, Charley, arguably even Gallifrey). If sales are not strong enough for series 2 that will be a shame, but on the other hand if BF ever get Matt Smith but can't get Karen or Jenna, then Lady Christina would be a strong contender for the companion role.

I will join the voices that recommend this release. If you like your stories to be very Russell T Davies then this is a box of delights. If you like the original Big Finish characters from the recent UNIT range, this is also for you. It offers an expanded characterisation of Lady Christina, brings out the sympathetic side of Sylvia Noble, presents a different take on a single sontaran and persuaded me that I am ready for more stories involving the Slitheen. There are car chases and underwater bases, funny exchanges and moments of charm, and most perplexingly, manages to feel like it is from the time of The Persuaders, and from 2005-2010 Who, and seem relevant now.
If it's still £20 to download, my view is that £5 a story is a bargain.

Just thinking about it, THIS is what the Charley Pollard spin-off ought to have been like in terms of style and tone, except obviously set in 1930s and Charley not a cat burglar

Still not sure if I'm interested in this. I feel like some of the characters should be combined. Jenny, Christina and Charley should meet up with River or Benny or UNIT. What make all of their stories distinct? I know you could say that about all the Doctors but most of the Doctor's former companions are running around the universe, do they all need their own tales?

What make all of their stories distinct? I know you could say that about all the Doctors but most of the Doctor's former companions are running around the universe, do they all need their own tales? Well of course, the cheeky response is to say that this very release DOES combine Lady Christina with characters from the UNIT series.
What makes them distinct? I would recommend Jenny to people who like 'spacey romps', I would recommend Christina to people who like something like posh crime with a twist of the alien, I would recommend River to people who want to see a modern character dipping into the Doctor's past, Benny to people who like a dry wit to their sci fi, UNIT to people who like to see how the military deal with alien invasions, and Charley to (well, that range remains a mystery me).
One has Time Lord DNA, one is a thief who we can never really trust, one brings Edwardian upbringing to a life of time travel, one is a drink loving, lecturing parent who like digging up the past in the future, think of all this variety!
They all come with a different tone or style, because none of these characters are written or performed as a generic companion - each is the lead. I suppose you could say that just as we encounter different women in life who live their own lives and have stories to tell, so these leading ladies are all different and have different stories to tell. How marvellous!

I'd never even consider buying the Charlotte Pollard sets, I never thought India Fisher's acting was particularly believable for one, however I am tempted by the Lady Christina series, I liked her in Planet of the Dead and thought it was a shame we didn't see her as the Doctors companion for a while, or hear from her again.

Well, this series really surprised me. After getting my fingers burned with Tales of New Earth (I bought it without realising how much of it would involve someone imitating David Tennant's Doctor) I have been a bit wary of new spin-offs. Jenny restored my confidence a bit, but this was wall-to-wall fun - I enjoyed every aspect of it, even the Slitheen! I wasn't expecting the various cross-over elements to be so effective - I guess I'd thought them more a marketing ploy - but having Sam Bishop in this enhanced the overall arc, and Sylvia Noble's story was excellent and perfectly suited to exploring where Lady C's avarice meets her compassion.
The tone was perfect. Although it's all set in the present day, it has the feel of one of those 60s ITC series that usually stars Roger Moore. The theme tune's ace, and Michelle Ryan's performance is immaculate - like, as I think someone in the extras said, an evil Emma Peel.
I do hope BF make many more of these.

Well, I'll feel guilty if you don't like it now! It may not be to everyone's taste, but it takes being silly quite seriously and personally I thought it was very witty and huge fun.

I finally dug in and finished the set. Romp pretty much sums this box set up. I do think that if Big Finish had followed up her first appearances with a Raine Creevey series, it would have sounded a lot like this. Love all the influences, especially the Roger Moore era of 007. Good fun. I’d gladly purchase a series 2.

I'd ask for commission from Big Finish if I were you. You had me at "feel of one of those 60's ITC series".. 😁
