Eric Roberts, at first blush, sounds like an American actor who hasn't done a lot of audio drama. He sounds like he's toned down his interpretation. A shame.

I find that American actors, especially film & TV actors, who don’t have a lot of audio drama experience can very often sound a little flat. There is a lack of color in their voice and intonation. As noted, the trailer isn’t a great sample size but that is what I heard out of it. I’m more than prepared to be wrong.

Wow, this sounds truly epic! It's a match made in heaven, the Master and River.

Wasn't it the case that Gomez and Roberts recorded over Skype? so they can forgiven for sounding off in that case.

They could be directed via Skype but they would still be recording in a studio surely. I could also be totally wrong. The behind the scenes interviews for Jago And Litefoot Forever revealed that plans were underway to record J&L 14 in Trevor Baxter's home to accommodate his poor health, but that was scuttled by construction in his neighborhood. Citing a more successful example, James Arnold Taylor (The voice of Obi-Wan Kenobi in animation) has made YouTube videos from his in-home Skype rig. It's possible alternative arraignments were made for Gomez and Roberts, but I suppose we wont know until this set's interviews.

Everyone sounds fine to me, I just think the trailer isn’t particularly good. They’ve just cycled round the incarnations with no context.
Not that it dampens my excitement for the set!

Sounds terrible. I am bored of River bumping into different Doctors etc. Can't she have some of her own adventures which don't rely on shoehorning in Dr Who characters? I have enjoyed all of the Boxsets so-far,we have had some great stories!!! But I do agree with you one hundred per-cent, have also pre-ordered Boxset 5,but after that

Harry Shearer does all of his Simpsons readthroughs and character voices on the phone from the comfort of his own home.

Tend to find BF trailers are either really good or just meh. This was definitely the latter, with just random bits of interaction between River and the Masters.
Still looking forward to this though.

Roberts sounds okay. He's reading his lines and is definitely new to this, which is typical. Most are the first time. I'm sure he'll warm up in his future releases (more more more!). I do like that it sounds like his appearance is post Who '96, which may open up possibilities if River doesn't blow the Bruce identity up or something.
Also, I have a question. Asking because I haven't seem much of him outside of Who. Does Sir Derek Jacobi ever give bad or half baked performances? He's only in this trailer for a few seconds and has already completely won me over...again. The sub title for his story should be: "Show Up. Maximum Effort. Leave. Repeat."

Harry Shearer does all of his Simpsons readthroughs and character voices on the phone from the comfort of his own home. IIRC correctly, Anthony Daniels did the same for C3PO's lines in the 2D Clone Wars.

Harry Shearer does all of his Simpsons readthroughs and character voices on the phone from the comfort of his own home. That is true. I was over at his house once when he was doing it.

Looks good. As a Master fan I think this is the river box set I have been most excited about of them all. The news piece suggests the Eric Roberts story shows what happen after the TV movie, just hope it doesn't contradict the CC Mastermind ...
