So here's the conceit:
In the vein of the wonderful History of Collinsport in 100 Objects thread from a while back, I propose a new forum colab thing.
The idea behind this is thus: we are the supposed writers of "Collinsport" a current-network styled revival the Dark Shadows universe that features a largely new cast of characters, set in present day. It is our job to collaborate on a weekly basis to come up with the basic premise for every week's episode and come up with the TV Guide summation of each episode.
Each week we'll come up with:
For the leadup to the first "episode" (weekly on Wednesdays! First episode will be "due" on the 1st of August), I'll pitch some characters and basic plot setups, and see what everyone else comes up with!
Returning Characters:
New Characters:
Ideas for contemporary books/movies/topics/etc to mine for ideas:
Plot germs:
Plots should be suitably Dark Shadowsy, but through the lens of a world approaching the 2020s... keeping in mind that Collinsport is probably still a bit behind the times
- The specific characters used in a given episode.
- the TV Guide blurb.
- the opening monologue, opening scene, and episode ending cliffhanger scene.
For the leadup to the first "episode" (weekly on Wednesdays! First episode will be "due" on the 1st of August), I'll pitch some characters and basic plot setups, and see what everyone else comes up with!
Returning Characters:
- Maggie Collins - owns and runs the Collinsport Inn. Congenial, friendly, gets on well will everyone. Keeps a large wolfhound.
- Carolyn Stuart Collins - Matriarch of the Collins family, owner of much of Collinsport. Friendly on the surface, but don't dig too deep.
- Ned Stuart - Carolyn's husband.
- Ed - Blue Whale pub owner. Talks to himself a lot. Gruff, with a heart of gold.
- Jacqueline Tate - Works with the local law enforcement.
- Amy Cunningham - A branch member of the Collins family, rumor has it that she's a bit of an expert on the occult.
- Tommy Cunningham - Amy's 'younger' son. Has a very cheerful outlook on life. Easily distracted. Gets on well with Maggie's dog. Helps out around the Inn.
- Harry Cunningham - Amy's 'older' son. Cody's partner, works for the local newspaper as a photographer.
- Cody Hill - the resident town Doctor. Harry's partner.
New Characters:
- James Gravenor - Vice Manager of the Collins Fishing Fleet. Mid thirties and with a chip on his shoulder.
- Clayborne Sands - local handyman / drunkard, seems to know more about what's going on around town than he lets on.
- Joe Mann - totally not an alien pretending to be human.
- Lily Trask - A young woman newly arrived in Collinsport, looking for answers about her past.
Ideas for contemporary books/movies/topics/etc to mine for ideas:
- Slender Man - tall faceless men in suits seem to haunt the town from the nearby woods
- The King in Yellow - A Collinsport Theater/Film group has sinister undertones
- The Time Traveler's Wife - A character's significant other keeps popping in in the wrong order, due to timeflow shenanigans.
- Saw - Someone is trapping folks and making them compete in horrific "games" to escape.
- It - A malevolent entity is preying on the town's youth, trying to fully awaken from its slumber beneath the town.
Plot germs:
- Lily arrives in town, following a trail of connections looking into information about her family tree for reason yet to be determined.
Plots should be suitably Dark Shadowsy, but through the lens of a world approaching the 2020s... keeping in mind that Collinsport is probably still a bit behind the times
