Growing up in the UK in the 1980s, we were all convinced a nuclear war was just around the corner.
I think Protect and Survive was an official government message, that gave (completely useless) tips on what to do when the bombs came.
At our house we hid under the kitchen table which was covered on all sides by tin foil.
That last bit may not be true.

I was really impressed when this was released - it's one of the few stories I immediately listened to for a second time once it finished.

I think this is one of the stories that Aired on the Radio during the 50th Anniversary. It's a brilliant story, very intense.

I caught this on Radio 4 a couple of years back. It’s honestly *so* damn good. Oddly I had a feeling here that I usually don’t get with the main range, and that this story was exciting in the way that I’ve only ever found TV episodes to be on broadcast. I couldn’t put it down. Jonny Morris is an absolute treasure.

I love this one. Love it.
Just so perfectly seven. Cold, bitter (but also, he was right), and the episode has a genuinely threatening and claustrophobic atmosphere. Everything works. There's not one misfire, not one bad line or thing that seems off. I basically dropped what I was doing when I listened to it and just sat (I usually do things while listening).
One of my very favorites, up there with Heaven Sent (ok ok, there's at least one thing that seems off with Heaven Sent: why did he punch the wall instead of kicking it? He had boots on!). "Brilliant" in both the American and English sense.

Effective and powerful. A very small cast, which evokes perfectly the feeling of being trapped and helpless. Cleverly written and gives Ace and Hex the chance to take the lead for once (with subtle hints from the Doctor in the background). Peggy and Albert are well developed - changing from sweet elderly couple to evil villains.
The standard is maintained here throughout and is a strong opening to the trilogy. It brings the right dark tone to the McCoy era without being melodramatic and over the top (as would sadly plague the later releases in this trilogy).

Intense audio drama, superbly acted, dark gritty & emotional this is one of Jonathan Morris's best scripts.
