I can heartedly recommend Dark Shadows (but then I would say that). Less background is needed than you think for the newer stories. If you want to dip your toe in, try the Short Story ranges. Four stories in one release - similar to Doctor Who Short Trips. That way, if you find one confusing, you’ll have something completely different for the next half an hour. Yes I have enjoyed the anthology stories that I have got and am still unravelling Cobwebs 😝

It’s the ongoing spin-offs that have most of my attention in recent years. UNIT, River Song, The War Doctor & Master, Gallifrey, etc. Even Classic Doctors, New Monsters and the Eighth Doctor: Time War are spin-offs of the main content Big Finish are doing with the respective incarnations.
That’s not to say I’ve no interest in other releases featuring the Doctor: I’ve loved the Season 19 main range releases and the latest season of the Fourth Doctor Adventures was good fun. I’m looking forward to the Seventh Doctor bonanza that’s forthcoming. The Companion Chronicles are always a must buy and I’m excited for the new series of Early Years.
Lots of great content; it’s all about deciding what’s for you. It’s escapism in the best possible way.

I love Survivors, it's heartbreaking and often anxiety inducing but it's very good very compelling drama that has me gasping for breath Some of the New Who spin off just don't catch my interest, like New Earth or Lady Christina. Not sure about Jenny. I'm really not sure all these characters are interesting enough to hear their spin off series I know survivors from watching the Original series as a kid and it was a family time show for us 😆 I only got the first series on audio as i bought in those days from local bookshop then they never got anymore but will start catching up with it as I read good things about it. I am finishing Omega Factor at moment and absolutely loving dark shadows i would say that is BFs best work i have heard.I fit in some Blake crossfire series in between a bit like doing episodic television 😆 Yes New Earth and Christina am sure they are well done as usual by BF but like Torchwood and Class they just do not hold my interest as i feel the Doctor Who surprises are getting diluted as everything is covered and originality is lacking,i may be wrong but hey it wouldn’t be the first time.

@audity , Tried Star Cops? Matthew Waterhouse reading his story collection Sugar is also excellent. Not from Big Finish though. It's from www.whatnoise.co.uk/ where you can also find the Quartet drama collections (only a fiver each) from the Dark Shadows producers, writers and actors, and Roy Gill's novels as audiobooks, and an excellent Hammer Horror spoof called The Devil Take My Stereo.

Each to their own there’s enough enjoyment out there for everyone My parents came calling and I played it to my mother as we would watch it with her my dad has never seen it as he worked the days it was on ...I said to my dad ...”here you thought we were enjoying ourselves when you worked “
