There have been so many spin offs of Doctor lately and all of them seem excellent. But I had to escape for a while into another series.
Time War (love McGann) Lady Christina,Jenny,Class,Torchwood, etc etc its getting overcrowded lol so I headed to Blake and Dark Shadows Any others escaped for a while?

Ive been going retro with Whispers of Terror, always helps. I had been going back to when the ranges first began found a New Love for Peter Davisons early adventures. But I have to catch up also with the Liberator Chronicles and if BIg Finish had released their Originals on Cd i would definitely go there

I often need an “escape” from Doctor Who on audio. That is one of the reasons I am sad to see that the Pathfinder Range is no more. Plus I always felt that Jago & Litefoot we’re sufficiently distinct to act as an escape from Doctor Who. And of course I don’t have that escape route open any more.
I am looking forward to more Steed and Mrs Peel next month and hope that won’t be a one off. I have plenty of Doctor Who on order, but not much else...

I can recommend Bloodlust,Panic and Curse of Pharoah and also House by the Sea. I have still to buy Jags and Litefoot Forever as it has been one series i have totally enjoyed from start to finish.I have never liked Torchwood,no intentions of Class,Jenny,Christina. David warners Unbound withe Bernice was enjoyable though i did love that but now they have escaped into the Who universe lol? Am not a gamer Is Pathfinder any good on its own,i like LOTRs but just though nah, another orc dwarf thingie

It is great to have so much Doctor Who. Who would have thought, throughout the 1990s (those who are old enough), we'd ever have such goodness? I remember the first of a handful of lost story BBC soundtracks - on cassette - being played to death because they were the only examples of new (old) Who. So I reprimand myself for needing an escape these days, but I certainly do. It's almost a mercy that only some of the new series audios interest me - if I collected everything, there simply wouldn't be time or inclination to listen. And mostly, I like to listen to these releases more than once, because there's always something you miss first time around. In the absence of new Dark Shadows, Torchwood has become a favourite escape - ironic considering that it too, is a Who spin-off (but has certainly formed its own identity away from the Doctor).

Like you I have no interest in Torchwood or Class, but I did buy and really enjoyed Jenny. The best word I can use to describe it was fun! However I would consider it an escape from Doctor Who. Back in in the day when a Charlie Pollard spin off was first mooted I hoped that she would have some 1930’s style adventures rather than what we got. I keep thinking about starting Counter Measures as a counter point to all the Doctor Who audios...

I wouldn’t say its horror its psychological and part soap opera.Yes sure it has witches ,demons warlocks werewolves but it has time travel and excellent twists and turns i first caught it on internet decades ago and thought. One day am going to see that programme in full and it was the time travel storyline that hooked me. Truthfully try...Curse of the Pharoah or Panic great stories well acted By escape i wanted out of Who universe for a while. You need a breather sometimes it became Torchwood didn’t need the Doctors help,Countermeasures didn’t need the doctors help,Class, etc......constant invasions .You have Torchwood you have Unit you have an earth constantly under attack I just got to point that believability in the unbeliavability was getting stretched lol

Hello again.
Financial considerations mean I tend to stick to Dr. Who. However, since being awarded the rights to Nu-Who there does seem a multitude of new ranges. This is good for those who like certain characters.
For me, I've always liked Torchwood particularly when they sorted out the characterisations. Unfortunately, money prevents exploring further.
I think extending Class is a good idea. The characters are interesting. The school being a centre of extra-terrestrial activity and the wonderful Miss Quill. It could become a sci-fi Grange Hill. (!)
The trailer for Jenny Who shows this premise does have potential. We know little about the character and as long as she doesn't turn into another version of River Song things could be fun.
Finally, River Song is the only spinoff I've actually bought. I like Alex Kingston'performance and I'm hoping the Big Finish writing team has woven its magic. I looking forward to her meeting Sixie and Sevenish.
The beauty of Big Finish is there is a universe of different universes to enjoy.

But, as yesterday's sad news about The Omega Factor proved, only if the sales are high enough.

For me, Torchwood and UNIT provide a good break from Doctor Who. I need their fast pace with lots of action after the Main Range.
Those two are the big ones, but also Jago and Litefoot.
Other licensed properties -- Blake's 7 and (formerly, unfortunately) Pathfinder.
I also enjoy the Classics range.
And...eek. How am I affording all of this?

I think I'm very fortunate that for the amount of Who-binging I've done the last few years, I'm still content escaping to the Whoniverse rather than from it. I can sympathize, though - I think I'd be fairly overwhelmed at the number of spin-offs if I weren't better caught up. In fact, I think I was fairly overwhelmed by any new releases before I was better caught up. For awhile there I could barely seem to keep up with what was new for as much listening and shopping as was being devoted to older stories.

I have been buying for decades now and enjoyed for the most part, some good some bad. mostly sticking to main range and Jags and Litefoot(one of the best). Was never really interested in the Time War but indulged. Torch wood I was never interested in and did not enjoy the TV series. But suddenly it was spin off here spin off there.Must be a sign of old age. Haha. I have been more than happy to break away from WHO for a while and am not going to be worried (FOMO) about most of the other WhO ranges.Dark Shadows and Omega Factor are excellent as are the Classics range.BF originals I would prefer on CD and probably won’t get yet.Dorian I was a late arrival to and enjoyed very much,BF don’t do Cd of series one and two which I have on download which secretly annoys me as you can get it from Amazon. But hey if they don’t want my money. Class I have no interest in either so won’t even go there amidst all the hype. Yes But it comes in Cd but the Originals do not. Dark Shadows was an instant relief and have enjoyed immensely even though it has a long history I jumped in and have been having fun piecing bits together, and enjoying those who know a lot about it’s comments i in no way feel as if I missed out.Blake also is great and long may it continue although am not a fan of crossovers at all and I read those posts of Daleks and the doctor meeting Blake’s crew with arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhH 😝

You are saying that you enjoy it very much without continuity causing any kind of problem? That's good to hear, and those considering getting into the range should take note!

I have great hopes for Bloodline.

I can heartedly recommend Dark Shadows (but then I would say that).
Less background is needed than you think for the newer stories. If you want to dip your toe in, try the Short Story ranges. Four stories in one release - similar to Doctor Who Short Trips. That way, if you find one confusing, you’ll have something completely different for the next half an hour.
