The Power of the Daleks is definitely up there. I got to see the reconstruction in theatres during their initial release and... Oh, it's breathtaking, how this must have looked on the original tapes. It managed to balance us getting to know this new Doctor and the various machinations of Vulcan's colony very effectively. Neither side felt particularly shortchanged and the idea to bring in an iconic foe like the Daleks to bridge the transition was just genius. The final episode always gets me for just how relentlessly it pursues the final assault. It's a massacre. The Daleks kill everyone without fail or pause, while the humans' own powerplays start to collapse around them. Anneke Wills as Polly really drives home how terrifying their circumstances truly are.
That final image of the TARDIS dematerialising from the mercury swamp with the recorder playing in the background feels really reassuring. We're in safe hands here and it's going to be a fun ride.

Same here, I saw this in the cinemas as well.

I think The Eleventh Hour is the strongest, though I do like Deep Breath quite a bit too (it is a bit padded, but other than that is pretty strong).
The Power of the Daleks is a classic though.

I still consider The Eleventh Hour to be the best first story for a Doctor - certainly of the modern era, at least. As for the classic era, Spearhead from Space is still my favorite first "new Doctor" story. I remember when I saw it back in high school I immediately told my friend that I thought I'd found a new favorite Doctor after I first saw it - of course, that was before I saw the rest of the series and delved into Big Finish and then realized it was literally impossible to have a favorite Doctor because they're all amazing. Point is: Spearhead from Space - great story. I think you are so right they are ALL wonderful
