I wonder if a future volume might feature season 7 stories with Tim, Daisy, Jon, John and Richard Franklin?

Anyone know if there are rights issues with using the character of Sir Keith Gold, would love to see Christopher Benjamin back playing him. I know the character got name dropped in The Last Post.

Well, well! I think we'd pretty much sussed out that a Brig recast was coming, but I wasn't expecting it to sound so letter perfect. I actually double checked that I hadn't clicked the wrong thing because it sounded so perfect. The Liz recast is quite a surprise too, though a welcome one. This really opens up a lot of possibilities for Big Finish. I'm a big fan of the UNIT corner of the Doctor Who universe and it's a significant reason why I'm so fond of Three's era. I was always a bit sad when some hand-waving had to be done to explain where the Brig was during stories where he might have otherwise appeared. I always felt the pang of Courtney's passing at those times. I'm pleased Big Finish have been so careful to honor the spirit of the performer.
I hope this means we might hear the Brig in some Fourth Doctor stories (as well as other interesting places he could pop up).

I also wonder if this opens things up so we get more than one 3rd Doctor box set a year.

I assume recasts of the Second Doctor and Dodo will happen in the near future.

As I said in another thread:
I've listened to it a couple more times now, and those little things are still bothering me. I'll definitely need to hear the whole thing before I can make a final judgment, but whatever quibbles I have, they are just that, minor issues that sound just slightly off to me, but I was trained in vocal analysis, so these little things might not be significant to others. It doesn't stop me from appreciating the great ability that Culshaw has, it's nearly perfect. I really need to hear more of Treloar before I really hear the Third Doctor from him, though. From this clip (all I've heard of him in the roll), it doesn't sound as close as when Peter Purves does Hartnell, for example. At least to me. I'm willing to bet I'll get accustomed to it fairly soon once I get the chance, though. Funny thing, as much as I want more stories with her, the only character from all of Doctor Who I don't think I could stand to see recast is Sarah Jane. No matter how good someone else could be in the role, or in copying Lis' voice, hell, it could sound as if you cloned her, it would still feel wrong to me. There's just something about her presence that I don't think anyone else could match. The term "irreplaceable" gets bandied about a lot, and it certainly applies to people like Jon Pertwee and Tom Baker, but there's a larger than life quality to them, and to their Doctors, that almost invites people to imitate them in homage. Same with the Brig in a lot of ways. But with Sarah Jane, I just think it would be different. She wasn't "larger than life" at all. She was just...perfectly human, I guess. No, recast whoever else you like, but I don't think I could get behind a replacement for Elisabeth Sladen as Sarah Jane in my lifetime.

I have had a really long day and have not had a chance to get on the forum till now. I saw the news this morning and was so excited, but also concerned that most of Who fandom would be upset by the recasting. So I'm pretty happy that I logged on to this thread and see nothing but positive comments by people excited about this release. Culshaw sounds terrific as The Brig, it was perfect casting. I know nothing about Daisy, but I'm looking forward to hearing her as Liz, my favorite 3rd Doctor companion.

I assume recasts of the Second Doctor and Dodo will happen in the near future. I cannot imagine anyone other than Frazer playing the Second Doctor. He already is the full-cast go-to anyway... incoming spoilers for a couple of Two cameos... He already played him in Return to Telos & narrated bits of Dumb Waiter as the Doctor! That's pretty much a full recast IMO. Not that it bothers me. I think his Second Doctor is great even though it's not perfect.

Having heard some audiobooks read by David Troughton, I think he can definitely sound enough like his father to pull off the Second Doctor for full-cast recordings, if it comes to that.

I also wonder if this opens things up so we get more than one 3rd Doctor box set a year. That's just what I was thinking! Make it like most of the ongoing box set ranges - one release in the first half of the year, one release in the latter half of the year, with one set being a Season 7 Doctor/Liz/Brig/etc. release and other a Doctor/Jo/Brig/etc. release. I'll bet it's one of the most popular moves Big Finish could make right now

Out of interest has anyone heard Michael Troughton's reading of the Dominators novelisation. What's his impersonation of his father like?

If Jon is up for it then i would love for him to meet the 8th and 10th Doctor. to be fair this has opened up a lot of possibilities.
i do enjoy Fraser's 2nd Doctor performance. Where as it isn't always spot on there are times when he really nails it and he never fails to convince.
I would love BF to add the 2nd to the monthly range, especially the Jamie, Ben Polly team.

Yes.. And also since 8 isn't a part anymore yet is still being promoted in the promo pic for the Monthly Range (yes I know he has many in the "past"..)

I think BF aren't keen to mix recast ranges with ranges using the original actors.
And Frazer's Second Doctor isn't full-cast, and the one time we heard it in a full-cast story ("Return to Telos") it didn't really work.

So if every Doctor is getting a special box set next year I'm wondering if we might get a second 3rd Doctor box set or if this is all we are getting next year with 3....besides The Legacy of Time of course.
