Did a few searches, but couldn’t find a thread for this release anywhere. Got The Worlds of Doctor Who in the recent Counter Measures sale and listened to Mind Games this morning.
I don’t have interest in the Jago & Litefoot range, despite liking the characters, but I do enjoy reuniting with the pair when they cross over into a Doctor Who story. Mind Games is a straightforward affair, but plenty of fun and sets up Mister Rees nicely. Christopher Benjamin and Trevor Baxter are fantastic.
The Reesinger Process next!

Like Jago & Litefoot, I don’t listen to the Counter Measures range, but it’s nice to hear from them again in The Reesinger Process. The story has a nice 60s vibe, the team are a joy to listen to and Mister Rees continues to intrigue.

Not so keen on The Screaming Skull. It felt like Daphne Ashbrook, Yee Jee Tso and Richard Franklin were just reading or shouting the lines throughout. It’s a shame, as we got even more stuff from Mister Rees, but I didn’t feel the main trio convincingly performed against it. The story was light and littered with references, but I did like how the events of the previous two Worlds stories were incorporated into it, particularly Jago & Litefoot; their appearance was the highlight for me!
The finale next: enter the Doctor!

Nothing against the characters, I like them, but there’s only so many ranges to collect and I rather like the occasional appearance by them. I’ve no interest in a dozen series of Jago & Litefoot’s escapades, as great as I’m sure they are.

I thought Second Sight was a lacklustre finale. The stuff with Rees as a child is great, but then nothing is really done with it. He just ends up being some power mad fool who wants to possess everyone, which rendered the whole thing redundant for me. There’s something really smug about the Doctor, Romana and Yates team. I’m not sure why, because everything they say is so generic; it must be the tones of the actors!
It’s a strange set. I don’t think it celebrates Doctor Who at Big Finish really. The first two were great fun, and they were practically standalone. Mister Rees ultimately ends up being insignificant, Mind Games aside.
I think “meh” is the word. The key thing I’m taking away from this release is I now have all of the Doctor Who limited edition book releases from Big Finish.

Jago & Litefoot is the definitive Big Finish range. 12 box sets were not nearly enough.

As a set, Worlds is a good story as an enticement to the spin off Series, not so much.

It’s interesting you think that. Overall, I didn’t think Worlds was good, but I think the enjoyment I got from the Jago & Litefoot and Counter Measures stories would make me more enticed to check out their ranges. But listening to their adventures with the Doctor is enough for me, personally.

Worlds of Doctor Who is what got me more interested in the Counter Measures series.
And I've always enjoyed Jago & Litefoot, so I enjoyed them in this, as well.
Jago & Litefoot & Strax was fantastic.
