Shout & curse, have good rant my friend get it out your system, I've cursed plenty today bloody cruel chiropractor it was nearly as painful as watching Last Jedi. but not as bad as ghostbusters.....hehe Say what you want, but I actually enjoyed the latest Ghostbusters more than I thought possible. I went in with sub-zero expectations and just took it as a movie taking the p*ss and there it certainly succeeded. But I am aware I might be the only person on this world who did not hate the movie... This is how weird I am.

I just didn't think it was funny, it missed on every level from sexist jokes, bad cameos, poor storytelling...… its not cinemas worst film, but a disappointment all the same...….but ghostbusters 2 was hardly citizen cane, I coming out of that film with my buddies and we thought the slime was the best thing about the whole thing......lol

I have to say I only watched Last Jedi ONCE and it was too much... Each to their own I guess... The one biggest problem I have with the new Star Wars movies is- the villains are absolute rubbish. This was also my biggest gripe with Last Jedi. It was just so painful to watch.
A good story rises and falls with the quality of the villain. This is why the original Star Wars, the pinnacle of a recycled old story even back then, was so great.
It had some really great memorable villains.
If you go on a convention these days, what do most of the fans dress up as? Imperials- only a minority dress as rebels.
I do not expect Citizen Kane- to be honest, I watched Citizen Kane twice and I admit it was a nice piece of art, but it just did not grab my attention. But neither did the Last Jedi for that matter (although the artistry in that one is to be debated)...

Mixed bag this week.
The Made: Started NAPLAN marking again this week (For non-Australians, NAPLAN is a series of 4 tests administered annually to Years 3, 5, 7 and 9 to determine their progress academically. It’s been a political football since it started but it’s settled down into another tool for measuring progress - and as it’s the only test sat by students in all states of Australia, its a good metric for measuring progress). I mark the Writing component since it’s the only part of it that hasn’t been fully integrated into being marked by computer yet. I’m also a team leader this year which is a step up for me, and brings a whole new extra bag of challenges.
The Not Made: I applied for a Deputy Principal’s job at a school I worked at about 6 years ago and wasn’t successful.
The Definitely Made: Went to the phone store to renegotiate my wife’s phone contract: it expired last month so we went to see if we could get a BYO deal (the phone still works so there’s no need to replace it) and I spotted a good deal on an iPad 6 which - when put together with the savings on my wife’s phone still leaves us a couple of dollars better off every month. My iPad 3 has been behaving badly in recent months (not its fault, there’s just no updates for it anymore and a 2012 machine doesn’t cope well with a 2019 internet) and I’ve been loath to replace it because of the lack of readies incurred over the last year or so by saving for...
... The “I’ll have what she’s having” Made: we got pre-approval for a house we want to build! We should have the nod (or the shake...) by the middle of the week.

I remember standing by a church just before nightfall, sallow orange-purple on the horizon and the street cardboard cutouts of shadow, staring down the road at the traffic. Little square patches of light meandering between the trees. At one point, a car came out in front of a truck, an exchange of horns was made and one of the taller trees burst outward like a cluster grenade. Magpies in their legion disturbed from their rest. The sound... And the sight... It would've given Daphne Du Maurier a heart attack. We need to make it a scene in something lol Definitely! Makes me wonder, though, in all the anthropomorphised fauna that's been done over the years (Judoon, Selachians, etc)... Why has Doctor Who never done predatory birds?

The nearest they've ever gotten is The Reapers really I wonder if it's a budget thing? A big part of what makes birds intimidating from what I've seen is the way they move. That clipped, twitching body language, almost like a mechanical vice at a manufacturing plant. It doesn't look quite right to a human.

Why has Doctor Who never done predatory birds? Would the Shansheeth count (from The Sarah Jane Adventures)? Or are vultures more scavengers than predators?

Visited the parents last weekend. They retired to Brewster (Cape Cod, bay side). So that was nice.
But my father got a really nasty cold on Sunday, by Monday the wife had it. I felt a little off but didn't notice anything until Tues night/Wed morning. Lost a lot of work time since nasal congestion was so bad that I'd wake up a couple hours into my night's rest unable to breath through my nose at all. Nothing worked; sudafed, saline spray, even generic Afrin (Oxymetazoline HCL) - which really isn't a good thing to use often. Barely slept. Finally felt a bit better today and forced myself through a workout, which might not have been the brightest idea but oh well. So that was obnoxious.

What I'm thinking about, though, is something like crows lead by butcherbirds. Daleks exterminate, Cybermen convert, these creatures eat. Us, mainly. It's that scene from the end of A Bug's Life, but for intelligent life everywhere.

Today, I first go out with my parents for a meal. And then I will go and vote in the dreaded EU elections. I really fear the results tonight- I fear democracy is finally reaping what all our incompetent, corrupt politicians have sown. And sadly, I do not expect that all of them have been on Ibiza and fallen into a honey trap.

Not made: I was in a classroom yesterday and a Year 1 student did an incredibly wet and ropy sneeze into his hand while he was walking towards me. I put out my own hand like a “stop” sign and before I could say “go get a tissue and wash your hands” he HIGH-FIVED ME WITH THE HAND HE JUST SNEEZED INTO!

On the plus side, being ill is the perfect excuse to get plenty of rest whilst listening to a audio drama courtsey of Big Finish productions...
