Just spend a wonderful summer evening on my balcony reading a book. Wow, what an emotional journey. I had to cry in the end. It was very interesting, however, since it is written by an American, of course it is full of the typical American pathos. But that is just the way of American storytelling, so you just bite your tongue and read on . It is the message that counts, and it is an important one. A very moving story, highly recommended: They called us Enemy, by George Takei- an autobiographical tale about the American Internment Camps during WWII.

Not happy to hear there's been violence at my old university campus. A group of peaceful protesters were attacked and the police had to get involved. No fatalities, but it's a bit unnerving coming so close to when I'm due to come back.

Bit of a perturbing morning, but otherwise I had a good day. I've been working for an organisation helping out writers for twelve months now and I mentioned this in passing to some of my coworkers who used it to throw a little celebration. A nice, quiet little thing with cake and brownies. I enjoyed catching up with the CEO for the first time in a long while, we chatted about how our respective projects were going and generally had a really pleasant time of it. Everyone was smiles and gentle kindness. It was nice. It's nice to belong and feel appreciated. One year down, hopefully with many more to come.

My work mate came back to work this week after having 2 weeks off. His wife works in the office next door. She pushed for an all-natural home birth in the swimming pool in the lounge room- despite every medical professional saying to her No..
The worst case scenario happened and the ambulance/medics were called ASAP.. The 2 weeks off has been spent in numerous doctors/specialists offices. I can see he is seriously traumatised he is just sitting at his desk at work not doing anything- I can see the anger/guilt is building up because he backed down and wanted it to happen in the hospital. Poor lil guy is facing permanent disabilities now because she pushed for this.
Not made my day - seeing my work bro basically a shell of a man.

There’s a horror movie called Alien? That’s really offensive. No wonder everyone keeps invading you.

Not: Really rather irritated with my mother right now.
I have a cousin, who I see about once a year maybe twice if the stars align, who is getting married tomorrow. My parents got an invitation (I'm 33, I don't live with them) to the wedding months back, and my mother, without consulting me, RSVP'd that I would be attending with them. At this wedding that's 2.5-3 hours' drive away. I was aware of the invite when they got it but had no intention of going to it, and never said I would. So I've said no, I'm not going to go with them.
I was visiting my parents' house tonight (unrelated, just visiting) and my mother is giving me her typical 'waffling between angry and pouting' thing, transparently trying to make me feel guilty because I won't fulfill plans that she made without my consent. Grrrrr
Made: I mean, at least it's Friday.

Spending the day in Seattle before leaving tomorrow to finally go home. We went to the Museum of Pop Culture. Came face to face with a Dalek and Cyberman. Was very, very pleased.
Add to that: There’s a monorail to downtown

This weekend's been... Something? 'A long and busy couple of days at work, some arguing, and some deep melancholy...
But hey, listening to 'The Juggernauts' for the first time in a couple of years, a bit of Youtube & watching the first series of 'Cardinal' has certainly helped a little! (I was hoping to have an early night but, oh look, it's 2.15... =_= ).

Dad's laser eye surgery went well, hopefully we'll see some improvements soon. Don't you mean he'll see some improvements? I'm sorry, I'll see myself out.

In line with my previous post- the other day we got the quote for renovating our backyard shed/garage. Ouch lots of $$$. 1/2 of it will be my Batcave- the other 1/2 will be just general use/chill out area- solid door with multiple locks so my lil boy and all the nieces and nephews can't walk in and break everything.. (Think- (The 40 Year Old Virgin movie with the scene of his house). I have been collecting for 38 years since I was 6. I can finally take all my BF cds out of boxes and stack them in 1 of my 14 IKEA 6 ft tall book cases..
Scheduled to start in a couple weeks. Needs a complete electrical overhaul as well and some concreting repair work in the foundations too..
