Having been looking forward to a female Doctor for years, it's pretty frustrating that they're being portrayed as more ineffectual and useless than even the 5th, coupled with a nice safe bland personality lacking in any of the hard edges or darkness that male Doctors were allowed.
So at this point I have to wonder if Chibnall is really a double-agent trying to ensure that there's never another female Doctor again.

I love Doctor Who fans and the variety of conspiracy theories they come up with... Yeah. Its almost as bad as saying Moffat wanted to kill off Doctor Who with terrible ratings. Ohh.... No sensible person would say that though, would they?  |

I'm enjoying the personality of the Doctor and in the absence of a plot arc I'm enjoying having her be one of those incarnations who travel around the universe having adventures as they chance upon them. |

Makes about as much sense as RTD’s gay agenda. Chibnall’s scripts don’t make a big deal about gender, nor any particular gender given any special treatment.

Isn't Chris Chibnall supposed to have a long-term 'plan' - I've heard five years being mentioned? Perhaps this current accusation of being 'ineffectual' (which is an accusation I don't entirely disagree with) will be addressed later on in the run.
