What has the question got to do with the thread title? In answering the question, I haven't got the faintest idea It's been too long since I've seen it.

If I remember correctly, yeah we never find out. Only real flaw with that story.

There is one possibility... They're the two figures Tegan initially meets in the Dreamtime, the ones that insist she doesn't exist.

Yes i once thought of that.I also thought they could have been under the influence of the box but since its mentioned that its dangerous for a man to use it i thought again.richard Todd seems to be the first they use it on. I just figure now that they got out of their respective machines and wander off lost in the jungle.

Am not sure its a flaw sometimes little breadcrumbs lead to further stories are the Mara possessing those crew members ? Did they dream near the chimes? Or they just thought sod colonisation am off to get lost in Paradise

Somewhere on Deva Loka they went all native Allusions to Conrad's Heart of Darkness and all that. Apocalypse Now was only a couple of years earlier. Kinda interesting conjecture. The Mara snake was very much like a Burmese Python though. Maybe they were 'lunch' or 'just desert(er)s'. More dubious humour but with a seasonal flavour on this twitter hashtag: Crap Doctor Who Xmas Cracker JokesNo complaints about it being posted on a wrong/misleading thread anyone please....
