Just wondering if any storys have reduced you to tears or left you feeling empty after, not just sad storys but gut punching ones. Off the top of my head of what I've listened to can only think of Peri and the Piscon which had a real gut punch in it.

Oh, there have been a few that got me tearing up (but more because I found them emotionally moving than gut-punching, though there are a couple of those):
The Rocket Men Find and Replace Peri and the Piscon Paradox Return of the Rocket Men A Death in the Family To the Death Robophobia Eyes of Darkness (Dark Eyes 4) Absent Friends (Doom Coalition 3) The Jago & Litefoot Revival Falling Flight into Hull! A Small Semblance of Home Tuesday (the recent Subscriber Short Trip)
(The highlighted ones were particularly good)
There aren't that many audios that really get to me, so when one suddenly does it's all the more effective.

Absent Friends is the major one I can think of right now... that one hurts.

For the tv show. My wife lost it over the John Smith episode.. 10's Regeneration . Roses' final ep and a couple other eps.. See the pattern LOL! She is Nu Who- she grew up knowing of classick who through older (meaning people my age, I am only 7 years older than her) relatives but never really watched it back then. Audio.. I remember I was deliriously ill and I was 1/2 listening to the final (?) 8th solo adventure with Lucie Miller (?) I remember feeling real sad in my hallucinatory haze LOL Another 1 that gets me is "Prisoners Of Fate". right in the feelz

I definitely agree with Peri and the Piscon Paradox. "Arrangments for War" also made me cry, the ending is quite intense, "And the Pirates" for personal reasons, after I caught on to what it is about. I am a quite emotional person and cry easily, so there are quite a few I cannot recall on top of my head. The first War Master set had quite a heavy impact on me, it made me feel cold inside and affected my mood, talking about gut punching.
For the TV series... well, predictably, I reacted to all of the known tearjerker moments like a homing missile.

Lucie Miller/To The Death. Completely gutted me the first time I heard it. I couldn't listen to another audio for a couple of days, and haven't been able to watch or listen to a Dalek story the same way ever since. The thing is, I went into it knowing that Lucie's fate, since I had already heard Dark Eyes. It didn't matter. I did an EDA re-listen recently and had to prepare myself for almost a week before I heard it again.

My Mum and brother (who'd heard it before) just completed the Eighth Doctor Adventures (they listened to them on long car trips). She sent me a text when they were done saying she kind of expected what happened since it was sort of foreshadowed, but she was very sad to see Lucie leave in that way, especially since we'll not get any more stories with her... When I told her we were getting the four new stories next year, it was the second time she seemed genuinely excited about listening to new Doctor Who-related audio drama! (The other time being when I told her The Mahogany Murderers was merely a pilot for the full Jago & Litefoot series )

Really, goodbyes, the kind of which have a feel of finality upon them, are the only things that crack me up.

If we're strictly speaking Doctor Who it's easily Absent Friends & A Full Life for me.
But throwing spin-offs into the mix then The Sky Man (War Master 1) and Corpse Day (Torchwood Monthly) would be my choices!

Arrangements for War. I dont need to say more The final scene in "Part Two" of Project: Lazarus too is just... ... Colin Baker and Maggie Stables were a once-in-a-lifetime combination. I miss it a lot, you really did feel that friendship crack like river ice in the spring.
Outside of that, Matt Fitton and Brian Hayles's The Dark Planet. I remember thinking: This is what the end of days feels like. I don't think I've listened to it since that first time, actually; it was such a gutpunch. I really should go back to it.

Adric's demise though at the end of Earthshock (and not episode 5). That was well executed and without any grief tourism, so had an impact given that this was not expected of companions back in the day. Contrast with how Clara's exit was overplayed and overwrought. One fault of the Moffat years that accentuated with Capaldi's seasons was a tendency for Victorian melodramatics of which Wilkie Collins would be proud.
