Beatrix Potter. Would be easy enough to craft a story featuring alien versions of those delightful animal character that populated her stories but it might be more interesting if such a tale features a younger version of her and focused more on her work in mycology.

Yesterday I watch Roald & Beatrix: The Tale of a Curious Mouse, and I thought that both authors would be worthy of an historical adventure with the Doctor. Perhaps the Doctor could meet Beatrix Potter when she was older - Dawn French’s portrayal reminded me of Evelyn, so a story with the Fifth Doctor (as I’d like to see him with an older companion) and then the Sixth Doctor meets the younger Beatrix just to mess up the timelines!

Really like that idea. And linking the two time periods is Miss Potter’s memory of an unfamiliar fungus growing in a cabbage patch and dressed in what appears to be a waistcoat...

Off-topic: why was the thread creator's account deleted? Do accounts auto-delete after a period of inactivity, or was it a self-deletion?

Off-topic: why was the thread creator's account deleted? Do accounts auto-delete after a period of inactivity, or was it a self-deletion? This was an old thread of mine. Had some issues across various forums with my accounts which necessitated me deleting them and starting new ones.

Ah, okay. Glad to here there's no auto-deletion protocol! And I hope you were able to successfully sort everything out.

Pretty sure she pops up in Angel of Scutari, which wound up being my favorite Hex story (so far, at least).

Guy Falks, Richard 1st, Florence Nightingale. I believe Guy Fawkes shows up in the recent Missy boxset.

Sir Nicholas Winton, or one of the other gentiles who saved Jewish children during the Holocaust. I think it would make a fascinating story, and great historical Who.

King George III. An English monarch who famously struggled with mental illness during the latter part of his life.

It does make me wonder whether Doctor Who (Big Finish or otherwise) would ever have the courage to do a historical on someone such as Oskar Schindler. Somehow I doubt throwing a random alien in there would go down well with most audiences.

The Emperor Vespasian. He was offered the use of machinery to build the Colosseum more cheaply, but he said he preferred to spend money on keeping Romans working and fed ('bread and circuses' ensured that the population would remain compliant). Historians have inferred that the proposed machines must have been early steam engines (tabletop toys powered by steam were certainly known in Classical times, but the Romans are generally thought to have lacked access to decent iron ore to have developed the concept at all).
The Meddling Monk could easily fit into this scenario.

Imhotep. Kind of a renaissance man the way he is often described. I'd think he'd get on well with The Doctor but I can't remember him ever being mentioned during any of The Doctor's well known name-dropping. As long as the aliens in the story are doing something other than building the pyramids. Did anyone see the trouble Elon Musk got into for that? lol

A tall, thin Doctor. Matchstick Men would make the perfect title for such a story.
