For various reasons, based primarily around the fact the world is a little ‘crazy’ at the moment I have pushed completion of my entry to near the deadline. I am pretty much there but can’t decide if my excerpt should be the very opening of the story or a little further on (about two or three paragraphs in). This will allow me to include an idea that I would really like to include without having to resort to 9pt text size to fit it all onto one side of A4 (I wouldn’t really do this :-)). I know one of the previous winners started their excerpt just after the beginning, anyone else taken this route?

Thanks nucleusofswarm, yes having read and re-read my work I think that missing out the first few paragraphs to include some later stuff just makes it better. I will be happy to get it submitted so that I can stop thinking about it for a day or so!

Well, that's my entry submitted! Strange that I've not received an automated reply, however. But still, all the best to everybody taking part!

My entry submitted and immediately I'm gripped with self-doubt that I started with the wrong scene. I guess it will only matter if they like it enough and I get a chance to fix it.

It had honestly never occurred to me to submit an excerpt that wasn't the first page, but now that you mention it there's no reason why not, as long as the scene still stands on its own. An option I'll keep in mind for next year!

Well, that's me submitted after a final few tweaks after some feedback from a pal. 5th time lucky... fingers crossed for everyone! (And especially to anyone taking it close to the wire tonight!)

Almost double the entries of last year... Who else just got really nervous all of a sudden?

Glad they're doing shortlists once again. Frankly, I don't care who wins. Because I think everyone deserves to have their entries read and heard.

Hello again.
This is just a wonderful way of remembering Paul Spragg. It also gets people exercising their creative muscles which is a good thing. With double the number of entries, does that mean that the Divergent Wordsmith's ReCollections 2 will be the size of an encyclopaedia!

We would really love to do a second Paul Spragg ReCollections anthology, once we get Unbound Imaginings 2 out of the way. And speaking of which, even though we're not planning to work on it until next year or so, I am more than open to accepting entries (synopses and excerpts) from all members and the general public from today onwards.

Do we have any clue as to whether or not people on the shortlist have been contacted yet?

Do we have any clue as to whether or not people on the shortlist have been contacted yet? I don't think they contacted them last year but I may be mistaken. I heard somewhere that Ben was contacted in late July, so we all may still be in the running.
