Even not knowing how much River is in this - and I suspect one story, or just possibly two at a push - it was an instant purchase for me. Sounds like something I’ll enjoy a lot, and the inclusion of Jackie is an unexpected bonus. So yup, bought!

I'm certainly not. It will be appalling. It will be good for those that like it loljust because the actors suggested it and fandom corners wanted It ,doesn’t mean it’s a good thing lol. One should never listen to actors it never ends well 😂 I mean for me Jack has had one LIFE too many. Sorry Mr Barrowman it’s truly the character lol Amen.
Hey, on occasion actors have some good ideas.
And this idea has been haunting a diversity of different fan forums/ posts/ youtube... (you name it, basically the whole fandom) since the start of the Moffat era.
The only surprise for me is it took them so long.
I will still get this.
I love River. And I am not above silliness.

Blatant fansploitation, a receipe for comedy, campery and enough single-, double- and triple-entendres to make a seaside postcard blush! How has 'Doctor Who' come to this? How?? It's a DISGRACE!!!!
*hunts frantically for credit card*
Seriously, I think there's likely to be a good variety of story tones across the set. In vol 2 we had one story that was a riot, one that was a serious historical adventure and one that was surprisingly poignant. Looking forward to this, and there was me thinking that March looked relatively quiet on the BF front after Jan and Feb's multiple Who boxsets!

This release is going to be hugely popular, so it can more than survive a foul little oik like me chiming in with my opinionated opinion. But I'm not hugely joyous about this really. This has to be the last in the line of 'what if so-and-so met so-and-so' hasn't it? Just about everyone has met just about everyone now, haven't they? Truly and honestly, I'm not raining on any parade, and wouldn't wish to - and couldn't if I did wish to - but each to their own. It would be nice to leave somethings to the imagination, is my personal viewpoint. Just saying, and all that. That’s fair enough Paz. I’ve had this issue with the DORS for a long time myself. Felt like she was just being used as a vehicle to have her team up with recognisable guest stars every episode. Thankfully, they seem not to have done this with the recently released Series Seven boxset. Still, I do agree though that as much as it’s an amusing thought to ponder whether Thomas Brewster ever met Iris Wildthyme or whether Frobisher and Miss Clarke once crossed paths, it doesn’t always mean we need to see it happen. Makes the universe that much smaller if everyone seems to just know or run into each other all the time.

As to who is in which stories, they tell us 1 'Crush' is the one with Jackie and 3 'R&J' is obviously River and Jack - 'Romeo and Juliet in space' vibe? Could go anywhere!
Which leaves story 2 'Mighty and Despair' and the mention of two travellers. Guessing the second traveller could be River with her professional archaeologist's hat on, because the title is from Shelley's poem 'Ozymandias' describing the meeting of two travellers by a vast archaeological ruin. Ozymandias
EDIT: If the trailer tells us that then sorry all - guess that would prove I generally don't listen to trailers. Spoilers!

I'd love it if they subverted expectations and Jack meeting River isn't a flirty romp but actually a deadly serious affair. A kinda camp love-in with innuendos flying all over the place, flirting galore would be what you'd imagine from them meeting but I'd kinda like it if it's the opposite of expectations. All I know is that James Goss is writing, so it is in safe hands.

Here is hoping they announce something else the next could of days as I would like to bundle a couple of things together and minimize the dreaded per order charge. That's my problem too. The exact same thing happened last year with the announcement of Volume 2 - we were given about a month's notice so I couldn't include it in my quarterly pre-orders (it's also why I still don't have Space: 1999 - Breakaway; without enough warning it's not practical to order it on CD at announcement if you're overseas). Luckily for me, I placed an order during last weeks' Warehouse Clearance sale and I might be able to get them to add this to that order (I've just e-mailed them). I did exactly the same thing with Volume 2, so if you've made any orders recently you should trying e-mailing them to see if they can add it on as they've been very accommodating with me every time I've asked in the past (about 3 or 4 times) They'll probably ask you to send the money through to them using PayPal though, so if you don't have an account you'll probably need to set one up.

The last Lives Of Captain Jack was great so I would have bought this anyway,, but with the addition of River and Jackie, I'm all in!
If you have ever heard Alex Kingston speak about how much she loves Big Finish, and being part of the Doctor Who universe in general, you must. She's quite the fan!

River and Jack meeting was inevitable as soon as both Alex Kingston and John Barrowman were doing Big Finish (not to mention it was teased in the last Lives of Captain Jack boxset). Honestly I'm surprised it took them this long consider how many Doctor Who universe characters River has been meeting. I'm expecting some fun dialogue.
A second Jack/Jackie story is more of a surprise and a welcome one.

Yes, isn't it lovely when such a busy actor says how much they enjoy doing what we love hearing!
I know some people skip the interviews and they do vary a bit by range, but the River BTS disks are always good listens and the Vol 7 one was too. I often enjoy BF interview tracks as an entertaining but not too demanding listen for some job or other that has to be done. Last week in the garden it was me and River against the new spring weeds and we won! ('Of course we did - no spoiler there! ')

I've been very much looking forward to the two of them meeting. Whether it ends up a serious adventure or saucy and flirtatious (or maybe both), it's an event and I'd like to be there for it, and have placed my pre-order.

I am very excited for this. I can see from the thread that many aren’t, but I am probably excited enough for three people so that covers some of you :-)
The trailer is up as well. It opens with a jaw dropping exchange and closes with an exchange that kind of tells ya where this is placed in river’s timeline.

I wonder if the boxset will be out tomorrow, since it also happens to be John Barrowman and Alex Kingston's shared birthdays?

I wonder will they release this and get CDs posted out before the warehouse closes? That would draw a line under all March physical releases
