Just downloaded this set and couldn’t stop myself from starting with R & J. I will not post any spoilers. But I will say John, Alex, James Goss, and Scott Handcock have simply outdone themselves. I have wanted this meeting for so long I thought perhaps I would be unpleaseable (if that makes sense). But I am very happy. Thanks all!!

Please, once you have listened to the set, could someone confirm how much River Song is in these stories?
Captain Jack and Torchwood are not ranges I am following, but I have all the River Song releases up to this point. I just need to make up my mind about this set.
Thank you.

As far as I know, they're three distinct stories and she's only in the last one.

I found the first one a bit of a drag - I'm not a huge fan of the Jack/Jackie team up - but Mighty and Despair has more than made up for it so far. Very much looking forward to R&J.

I wonder will they release this and get CDs posted out before the warehouse closes? That would draw a line under all March physical releases I'm sure there won't be a problem getting a physical release for Captain Jack.

I’ve not managed to get through Mighty and Despair, which I’m finding a huge drag. Loved Crush, but by far R&J is the best story for both River and Jack in a long time.

R&J. Wow. Take a bow, James Goss. I am often critical of his work and his reliance on continuity, but this was masterfully written. Equally farcical and heartwarming, this is a brilliant story for both Jack and River. It seems almost wasted in a set, as there's definitely the mileage for this to be a bit longer, and therefore a special standalone release. I bought the set entirely for this story and it's worth every penny. The way their stories intertwined was fantastic, with a couple of cameos to boot. I can't wait to see how themeddlingmonk works out River's timeline! I think a special mention for Blair Mowat is due, with his recreation of some themes from the Doctor Who soundtrack, particularly The Wedding of River Song. I think that theme is now associated with the Curator, due to its reuse in The Day of the Doctor, but it's a wonderful theme for River. I will get round to the other two stories eventually, but as I mentioned, R&J alone is worth it.

Should be posting what I think the order might be in the timeline thread later tonight.

There’s one that puzzled me and there’s a couple that don’t seem as clear, but they also might not be linked to existing stories. Looking forward to reading your thoughts.

Started with Crush. This was great. It was unexpected and random and just a fun enjoyable surprising story playing on customer service done to death (literally). Got some laughs and thoughts out of me. My first thought was this would be a bit of a cruise soap, then I thought it would play along the episode midnight... and then... I also liked the performances. This was very well done.

I could have done without the second episode (make R + J a two-parter this story could absolutely hold two hours) but this boxset overall was something VERY special. Hoping that Jack returns the favor by showing up in River's series.

Thoroughly enjoyable but not because of its main selling point, which is fine, I'd ve taken 2 Jackie "Dates" though, the flow between John and Camille is brilliant. Once again I'm probably the odd one out with these sets the middle story is the best overall IMO. 2 weary Immortals and one last wide eyed mortal just a tragic melancholic study of existence Which leads to the Event and its good oddly Jack is toned right down and River turned up. Its interesting Jack/John is great when used as an emotional crutch and River just channels her mother for a fair chunk of it. Lots of TV Timeline tweaks in R&J According to VORTEX the 2nd EP "Mighty and Despair" is the furthest in Jack's we've seen him poir to End of the World Regards mark687

Really enjoyed this set. I love Jack and Jackie together and I usually think Guy Adams is better at smaller stake stories than the big end of the world type stories, and I am personally not a big fan of the latter from any writer. Did not have any expectations for Mighty and Despair but that also was really good, and finally, R&J is so perfect I can't find words to describe it. This boxset is probably my favourite release from Big Finish this year so far.
