I could get not being invested in stories that happened in a world that doesn't exist but at the same time....I mean the world itself doesn't exist even in the realm in which it exists. So whilst these stories never happened...the same could be said of any story. So I'm keen for the set because we can experience stories that otherwise wouldn't be told, stories set within a world where the consequences are deadly. Similar to Rose Tyler in that sense: Alternative universes.

I can't say I'm terribly interested in a box set during the Year That Never Was. It by definition Never Was, so it's kind of hard for me to get invested in anything that happened during it. It did happen to Martha though - and her family, Jack, The Doctor, Lucy Saxon and The Master. It reminds me of Trek '09 when it's posed to Nero the villain that he's taking vengeance for something that happened in an alternate future that won't happen now, he says "Don't tell me it didn't happen - I SAW it happen".

Looking at it philosophically.

Oh, I know. It's just a personal hangup of mine, really. I don't usually like it when things end up never happening because it's like this get out of jail free card to backpedal on all the big changes to the status quo without having to deal with them long term. And that's not on BF, that choice was made long before their involvement of course. I can put up with it if the writing is otherwise excellent, but this box just ain't at the top of the list for me until I get some word of mouth.

I was just about to say: Yes, it sounds like a mental-block. It's not logical. Which is fine. Just a piece and entertainment etc. and probably won't reach Best of 2020 ratings.

One for the younger ones to Google.

I am pleased BF have got Freema and I hope we hear lots from her, but I am kind of disappointed they are going the this gap in her story. We kind of know from dialogue in Last of the Time Lords roughly what happened, plus there has already been a book in this gap. I'd much rather have her post Doctor life with UNIT, TW, Mickey, etc.
Goes without saying I'd like some during her travels with Ten as well ….

Don't worry, she'll no doubt be in further TW releases (monthly or even otherwise) and probably in one of the next few UNIT The New Series. And of course the 10DAs Vol.4 scripts are probably waiting for David and Freema (she might even have done her part, or some of it, already when they booked her for some of the things she's already done) to be available.

I would be surprised if that was the case - the last we heard there were no immediate plans for more 10DAs on the horizon, and DT was persuaded to do them because of getting to hang out with his mates so he's always recorded together rather than separately. When Vol 4 does emerge, as I'm sure it will, I would be surprised if it wasn't with Martha, though.

Yeah, I doubt she's done anything alone for 10DAs, but I'm sure there are at least treatments for a 10DA volume with Martha and they've probably shown them to her to try and lure her in. Now they only need to work out the dates!

Wait wait wait, they've finally announced this? I've been pulling for a Martha/year that never was story since the old Big Finish boards! I demand royalties!

If we were going to have Martha stories which I personally would enjoy this won’t be the one am buying. This was Martha crawling the earth making David Tennant into some sort of Messianic figure to save everyone. This is also a bit like Dimension cannon and Kidnapped people will buy it but for me it’s a go nowhere set.Individual encounters and stories with her Doctor would have been so much more enjoyable for me personally

I have not even gotten the novel by Dan Abnett, and as a huge fan of Dan, I have pretty much all of his books (since I am a HUGE Warhammer fanatic).
But this one just did not tickle my fancy at all.
The same reason I did not get the Dimension Cannon- I just can't make myself to show interest.
The Donna set however.... sounds like real fun. I am definitely getting that one.
And I also would like to see another 10th Doctor set- this time with Martha!

I'd love to see Martha & 10, give her character more to do beyond pinning after the Doctor. & yes this set goes nowhere. More pointless filling in the blanks from BF.
