If there was a War Doctor Spin off, who or what do you imagine it would be? It could be argued that the whole Time War range in a spin off, but at this point it would be more accurate to call it a 8th/9th Doctor spin off.
Personally I'd love to see Kruger maybe join some kind of East German/Society equivalent of UNIT/Torchwood/Counter-Measures. If they didn't portray the DDR in a typical "Western" representation, then I'd be all over that.

To be honest, I'd be more interested in War Doctor content than I would in spin-offs from his run of stories. I loved the series, but I don't think there was anything I'd be eager to have expanded upon.
A younger War Doctor series. A Dalek Empire: Time War where they tell stories of the Doctor. The Series 5 scripts done as audiobooks read by Louise Jameson. Some Short Trips. I think a Chronicles style set with Billie Piper would be fantastic; the shock the Doctor gets from The Moment is an insight into his mind - why not narrate some tales from his past? Even Chronicles read by Nick Briggs would do.

Yeah I'd be interested in hearing more stories with the War Doctor, though with the caveat they don't actually recast the role properly, John Hurt is such an iconic actor with such a distinctive voice I'm not so sure it would be right to recast the role-he only really appeared in one episode on screen and 12 audio plays so a recast would likely end up having more credited performance time which doesn't seem to right to me somehow, one of the things I like about The War Doctor is that we only really see/hear him at the very end of his life I kinda like that so much is untold and mysterious. I'm sure I read somewhere that the BBC blocked Big Finish from doing anything too dark with the War Doctor, maybe in the light of Hurt's passing and the years since the last boxset they may feel more lenient...? Maybe they could build on the mystery of the character and do stories where he isn't the focus i.e do narrated audiobook stories from other characters point of view, or with a chronicles style impressionist doing bits and pieces set throughout his timeline. I think something like a time war short trips anthology release, with The War Doctor flitting in and out of the story could be interesting.

He's my favourite actor, with such a distinctive voice and dominating anything and everything he does. A true legend. I'm personally not going to be upset if they do recast the role because there's such a substantial gap in time, to the point where it probably isn't really a recast. Certainly not the same as David Bradley, Jon Culshaw or Tim Treloar. I think that a straight recast is probably the most unimaginative thing they could do, though. I'd prefer some of my other options, which I envisage like you do: we're in the mind of another character and the War Doctor is a mysterious figure that dips in and out accordingly. I've said it a few times in the past, but I see the War Doctor series as the backbone of the Time War at Big Finish, with the other strands building on that, even if they go on for longer. It's a brilliant series, giving us a substantial era for Hurt's Doctor but also barely scratching the surface of the character and the Time War. I'm surprised that nothing was ever done with the Volume 5 scripts. We knew they were written because John Hurt was booked in to record them, but they were postponed as he was too poorly. I'm not sure if any more were written, but I wouldn't be surprised if they tried to do another four sets recorded in quick succession like the first four.

On reflection The War Doctor series was disappointing. If anything we need less time war stuff not more!

In regards to John Hurt, I don't understand why they don't get the estate's approval, and then just re-edit his voice as they need it to continue on with him for awhile. Works in music, works in film, works in tv, worked in Zagreus.

Does it work in film, though? Last time I saw something like that was the last Star Wars movie, and if all of Disney's money couldn't produce so,etching that wasn't laughably bad, I kinda think it's impossible.
The easiest, cheapest and most respectful option would be to recast, I think. The main problem would be finding someone with a voice similar enough to Hirt's to stand out, capable of similar delivery, without sounding like imitation or caricature.

He'd be perfect as a younger War Doctor.
