Off the back of cover of UNIT: Brave New World; one thing that’s surprised me is that Who never really touched on the Space Shuttle, given it was flying during the height of expanded universe Who in the Wilderness Years. One idea of mine is simply the TARDIS being in the payload bay (for reasons). Such a simple yet effective hook I’m just surprised no-one’s ever built a story around it.
I guess more generally I’m surprised Who never uses real space more. Stuff like the Soviet space programs, SkyLab (and its re-entry - come on there’s an event to build a sci-fi story around), the ISS never really get touched on. Only thing I can think of is The Space Race (which, whilst fun, has a really distant relationship with the reality of the space race) and that short story where the Doctor visits Apollo 8, plus of course Day of the Moon’s Apollo 11 shenanigans.

Easy to see why considering John Barrowman is now a persona non grata these days, but I do wonder whether in time we would have got an explanation as to who the alien race was that attacked Jack’s home world when he was a child.
Personally, I rather like the idea that the Time Lords were responsible.

The Doctor is in America and gatecrashes a party for Old Alleynians, ex-patriots and visitors, to find somebody is trying to kill them. PG Wodehouse is served a poisoned drink by a butler, Raymond Chandler is coshed by a guy in a trenchcoat, C S Forester narrowly escapes being suffocated when he's hung by the neck from a lightfitting with a noose tied with a naval knot.... Will the Doctor find Dennis Wheatley in time, or will he be sacrificed on a black altar?
