The ultimate collectors’ edition of the classic 1960s strip The Daleks is on its way from Doctor Who Magazine. First published in TV Century 21 from 1965 to 1967, The Daleks was devised by Terry Nation and largely written by Doctor Who’s first story editor David Whitaker. For this collectors’ edition, all 104 instalments have been digitally restored – the vast majority from the original artwork. The bookazine also includes new features about the writers, illustrators and publishers who created The Daleks, including a detailed interview with artist Ron Turner. Editor Marcus Hearn says: “This is the fulfilment of a long-held ambition. I loved this strip as a child and now – having seen the stunning restoration by DWM art editor Peri Godbold and her team – I admire it even more. You can’t really say The Daleks has been restored to its former glory, because I think it now looks better than it’s ever looked before.” • The Daleks is on sale at WH Smith, selected supermarkets and online at store.panini.co.uk from Wednesday 11 November priced £9.99 (UK). It’s also available as a digital edition, priced £8.99, from pocketmags.com downthetubes.net/?p=123004

I'm very excited for this one. Ever wanted to see the Emperor go gunstick-to-gunstick with an indestructible usurper? See the Daleks fight a rust plague threatening to overwhelm their city? Their initial skirmishes in what turned into the Mechanoid Wars? This is the place to find them. ( "A Little History of the Dead Planet" in Genesis of Terror was essentially an homage to Whitaker's efforts on these Dalekmania stories.)

John Freeman has answered some questions about the release: downthetubes.net/?p=123004I’m looking forward to it, as I’ve never had the chance to read these. I think it’s a shame that it’s been announced so last minute and with little fanfare or traction. It’s as though they’ve been working on this in the background for a while, recently finished it and have suddenly had the idea to coincide it with the launch of the TV21 inspired Daleks! animated series that’s out on Thursday. I hope it does well for Panini and it’s clearly a labour of love.

I've always wanted to see these strips reprinted as the pages of my Dalek Chronicles DWM Summer Special from the mid 90's are well worn and have small rips, so it's great to get a modern update of those original strips... pity it's not a hardback but it's a definite must buy.

I suspect this is exactly what's happened, since they were only putting out the call for original artwork a month or so ago, and are going to press without having waited for access to the panels held by the Cartoon Museum. A shame, but let's face it, there's not much else to smile about with Lockdown 2.

Definitely worth getting. All sorts of useful life tips - if there's nothing remarkable about you, just tell everybody you're going to be the Emperor and that they need to get you gold and other precious items! And then freeze all your enemies.

And then freeze all your enemies. Lucky fella. I have been trying to get it all week. None of the WH Smiths local to me have had it in, whilst the Panini store sold out prior to the 11th. John Freeman assures people that they are reprinting, but it has not reappeared online yet. I do hope they supply the demand as it is something I really want but I will not pay any profiteers.

There is a Santa Claus (we found him in one of the City ventilation shafts after the Dalek patrol had moved on), the bookazine is now back in stock at Forbidden Planet and looks to ship worldwide.

Bought a digital copy and I’ve been enjoying these off beat stories for the first time.
Combined with the you tube animated Daleks series I’ll be in danger of O.D.ing on Dalek related material.

Looks like it might be in part
