So I did these polls the last two years and they seemed to be popular for determining what we thought was the best of Big Finish of that year and now that it is November I've decided to get it started. Pick your top three from each month and at the end of January a top 20 pull will be compiled once polling has ended. This one is for April 2020. I'm not including any of this year's compilation rereleases as they are not produced for 2020 and excerpts are not included.

A very strong month for releases I thought. Even though I really liked the Torchwood story (Still think it was quite the coup to get Sir Michael Palin) I’d have to go with Susan’s War.
Hope we get more of her in future Time War related releases. Think there’s a great deal you could still do with her.

I liked the Torchwood story. I thought it was a great idea and well performed. Susan's War was also good, but not the heavy hitter I had expected. I think I would have to go with the Vultriss as my favorite in April because it is a fun Sixie story with good world building and an interesting new alien race. I wish we had more avians.

Quiet month for me as I only listened to three of the releases. I've picked Tropical Beach as my number one as I think the last episode of Susan's War brought the set down a touch, so that can have second place. I wasn't a big fan of Cry of Vultriss so I haven't voted for it; it seems a little unfair to give it third place just because I'd only listened to three releases!

Really torn again between my Countermeasures stories and Cry Of Vultriss....but in the end Vultriss gave me a traditional classic Who story with one of the best Tardis teams Constance and Flip .It didn’t do anything extraordinary script wise and dint try to be overly clever as some do..it was just good Doctor who...so Vultriss it is...sorry Countermeasure-I do love you and lady Sinclair

Susan's War - loved it, from the heart-warming return of William Russell to the front line of interstellar diplomacy and adventure, to that overcrowded (by time travellers) destination in London, 1963 and that meeting. Carole Ann Ford is excellent throughout and what more could we want than {Spoiler} Daleks playing "Mods and Rockers" in the East End?
Cry of the Vultriss - classic Who adventure for Sixie, Constance and Flip. Diplomacy, intrigue, queens, aliens and Ice Warriors. As a Third Doctor fan, "The Wings of Peladon" was right up my street.
The New Counter-Measures - I almost abandoned this series after TNCM2 but Ian Potter and John Dorney saved it for me with 'The Hollow King' and the 'Legacy of Time' CM 'story The Split Infinitive' both being really excellent. This month's pair of adventures didn't quite live up to that level because I disliked the writing of Gilmore in the first half of TMM and wasn't convinced by the way Rachel was written at the end of TDG. But in between - yes, that was a proper CM adventure. And I want more!

Another quiet month in the purchases department with just two from the new releases..and both get to share the top spot - Susan's War and Torchwood : Tropical Beach Sounds And Other Relaxing Seascapes Vol.4.
''Tropical Beach Sounds' took my expectations of a narration by travel broadcaster, national treasure and ex Python (Sir) Michael Palin, punched it in the face a few times and then tossed it out of the window.. with a story that grew more darker, more twisted and more sweary as it progressed. And no happy ending for the poor 'listener' either..
Loved it. Absolutely loved it.
And 'Susan's War' ? The earliest days of Who met the Time War in a boxset, albeit one set away from the frontlines. Carole Ann Ford finally got her moment in the spotlight and just ran with it. We finally got to learn Susan's Gallifreyan name. The Sensorites (!) returned. William Russell (!!) made an all too rare appearance, stole his episode and even in his ninth decade made the whole thing look stupidly easy. Paul McGann dropped by. Beth Chambers got to put a bit of warmth into the normally frosty Veklin (If they can finally get the Download rights to the Bernice Summerfield audios after all these years.. then there still hope for a return for Raine Creevy...).
Elements of the old met elements of the new and it just worked. Fingers crossed for a second volume.
