I’ve just heard “The Forest…” what a lovely Dante-esque setting and concept. I sort of wonder what the Master would have done if the girl hadn’t succumbed to her feelings of guilt? Another companion?

Now petitioning the fandom to officially recognize "the Warm Master" as the official name for a lightly-crispy, or slightly undercooked Beevers.

Apologise if this is already something that has occured and I have missed due to life getting in the way of my BF consumption. But, have BF got plans to put Jacobi and Baker together and take the two actors out for a spin. That would simply be a wonderful outing for these two. I for one would love to see the two bounce of each other. In this box set I think that Baker could have offered something extra than the use of Tennant. What are other peoples thoughts on this? Might give some folks an aneurysm, but I'd definitely be down for Big Finish giving Derek Jacobi the "River Song" treatment and just pairing him opposite literally every Doctor and every Companion. So what about Jacobi playing against BOTH Bakers at the same time? Aneurysm could not describe it. But even if I am a bit critical of the "River Song treatment", this would be something I would listen to. (Probably already in the works, considering the large amount already recorded Tom Baker stories and the fact that Colin popped up in A LOT of things in 2022)
Sorry by the way for the necromancy, just going through the threads to decide which release on my backlog to listen to next.

I actually think there’s a decent story in the idea of the War Master being sent back in time to protect the Doctor’s past incarnations from Dalek assassins. With the Master greatly relishing the irony of how he became akin to his guardian Angel.

Started on this.
Forest of Penitence- Deliciously evil as per usual. The Master on the back foot, chased through the forest by a monster, the others of the group picked off one by one.... well, I think everyone familiar with the range will know how this will go. And of course it ends exactly how I expected. But it was the journey getting there. And the Master does not hold back, he is as nasty and merciless and evil as one expects, he forms a theory, sacrifices some guinea pigs to test that theory and then closes in for the kill. Perfectly performed.

And I finished the set! I think I actually liked the first and last stories best. Yes, in both you know the Master has a plan and of course you know he will survive- but it is fun to figure out how he will do it. I also very much enjoyed his interactions with the 10th Doctor.
Performances are top notch, Jacobi does deliciously evil just so perfectly well.
However, I have to say that this set does not come close to the very first set.... which managed to make me feel cold inside from all the evil. Compared to that, this set is actually a "fun romp".
