Halfway through ep 2 of Bad day in Tinsletown, finding it quite fun but the newly revealed General is really grating, the actress has chosen to portray the character as a sort of cbeebies/panto hybrid and it's totally taken me out of the story, I'm sure this choice is deliberate as I've seen the actress in other productions and she's not a bad actress.
I don't like to be unkind but to me her performance is diabolically bad! Did anyone else feel this way, am I being unfair? I don't want to mean as I love Big Finish and feel guilty as I'm so grateful to get new classic Doctor Who.

I thought she sounded a bit like a female Rufus Hound myself - again, not exactly a compliment!

Now imagining Rufus Hound in elaborate Victorian skirts. Thank you.

Yeah you hit the nail on the head, the character was utterly insufferable and like you mentioned reminded me so much of Rufus Hound (why Big Finish keeps giving him work as The Monk is a mystery)

I think Hound works well as the Monk, but he is very campy. TBH I'm not sure a more grounded Monk would even work.

Listened to it all now, the other two stories in the set were great fun but I have the feeling this set was written as main range stories and not for the new box set format. There isn’t like a theme going through it like the other sets have had and they feel like the 4DAs which was just another series of adventures made into box sets.

I'm not a huge fan of this era of the Seventh Doctor, so I'm not surprised that I didn't love this set. It did stay fairly true to it's era, but that is not a plus for me. It was just ok. I think Ribos is the best of the three. I really did not like Bad Day in Tinseltown, for a number of reasons. We waited ages for some new Seventh Doctor, and this was not what I was hoping for. Who knows when we will get another set of Seventh Doctor stories. I just hope when we do they are better than this set.

The Haunting of Bryck Place was a very nice listen. It's taken a long time but I've finally come to really appreciate Sophie Aldred as an audiobook reader.

Part-way through Bad Day in Tinseltown.
Person with bad character seeks to use cyber tech for own ends; disaster ensues. I feel like I've heard this (a lot of times) before . . .
But maybe there's a twist coming.

First time I listened to Bad Day in Tinseltown, I had a migraine and I loathed it. The second time my opinion softened a great deal and I actually thought it had an authentic feel for the era and Sylv gave a performance that was simply so perfect and felt rather refreshed from the last few years. Honestly him and Bonnie were so much fun and the world building was strong enough that it gave me a little goodwill towards my issues with some performance choices by the villain and the bar owner. 3/5
