The will be the last overrated/underrated thread by me for a while.
I enjoyed Time-Flight a bit more than most people. I wouldn’t call it a good story, because I could see a lot of flaws in the story-telling and production.

Clearly they didn't have a bean to spend on this. Should have JNT have budgeted a less ambitious story for the end of the season - set entirely within one location, or somesuch? I'm not sure. Kalid is great fun, but remains illogical. Tegan's departure at the end is unexpected, and it certainly foolded me into thinking she was gone at the time. Anthony Ainley remains great fun at this point. The heath set is actually pretty good (imagine it on film instead of video) but over-used. Not as bad as its reputation suggests, but not a great end to a fresh and experimental season either.

The fifth Doctor quotes Ronald Knox. What's not to like?

I've never like Time-Flight, it's a bit of a silly story with yet another elaborate but bonkers scheme from the Master plus some silly blobby aliens ... I thought the third and fourth episodes were really bad, for me they are some of the worst Doctor Who episodes around.
For insomnia sufferers: go watch it!

I think it has a lot of interesting ideas in it but they are ideas the meagre budget could not possibly live up to. Not to mention, I still have no idea why the Master was knocking about dressed as Kalid. I can only presume it was part of some other plan and when the Doctor and co showed up he was forced to improvise.

I have nostalgic affection for this bundle of utter nonsense. It's a mess of neat images and random themes and threads that basically sum up the JNT era, arguably even more than say Warriors of the Deep or some of Colin's stories.
The image of a forklift carrying the TARDIS will never not be hysterically funny.

Normally this is where I quote the DWM poll and say "If you think its above this...its underrated"...but its Time Flight so I cant even be bothered.
OK..I can - as of the end of Matts era, it came 237/241. SO not a fan fave! Would I have it quite that low? Probably not so by default it IS underrated but not by much. Its offensively bland at points. Ainley was maybe never worse. The idea he keeps up his costume and voice even when alone is nonsense (almost like he knows he is on TV and cant do the reveal till The Doctor arrives!) but I do like some aspects like usin Concorde which adds a crazy amount of production value, the romp about the airport and the totally hilarious "departure" for Miss Jovanka!

Yeah, thats an interestin point. When it looks SO cheap (and is not uncommon for classic era Who to run out of money near seasons end) - a real Concorde makes it look even cheaper by comparison. Timelash was ALL cheap but it didnt have the most advanced aircraft on Earth (so advanced we now dont even have it!) to stand next to tinsel and whatever the props team could find in skips!

Weakest story of Season 19, not a well written story & a big letdown after Earthshock.

I’ve changed the title of this thread to a more appropriate question.

Yes. I watched it for the first time when I got the Season 19 Bluray set and I went into it with an open mind, knowing that it didn't have a good reputation, but... it's really quite bad. It doesn't help that it comes after the fantastic Earthshock.
