Very unique sounding Sontarans (and nice to hear Eccleston’s personal interest in the monsters) and far off into the stars where Nine rarely goes. Very intriguing.

Called it!
Always thought the Sontarans would be the ideal opponent for the Ninth Doctor to face. Although considering Eccleston’s desire to have a more upbeat Doctor it does make me wonder whether they will explore his Time War trauma at all.

This is an interesting role reversal for the Ninth Doctor. This time it's someone else proving they're not monsters.

From Earth to the Stars? So where are they gonna go for the final two sets of this sequence? E-Space and the Land of Fiction? Although considering Eccleston’s desire to have a more upbeat Doctor it does make me wonder whether they will explore his Time War trauma at all. They've kind of gestured at it already, I think. In ways that would probably work a lot better on-screen, where we could see the Doctor's facial expressions and body language, but fall kind of flat when all we have is dialog. Also it occurs to me, in light of that desire, that there's a conspicuous Frobisher-shaped gap in the 9DAs.

Leaving Earth behind for his next box set of audio dramas, the Ninth Doctor meets the Sontarans, but not as we know them – because they’ve evolved. Doctor Who’s most warmongering race have taken up gardening and developed a particular fondness for music!
Christopher Eccleston said: “The Sontarans are my favourite enemies of Doctor Who and I love this story. The idea of the most evil creature in the galaxy having an off-shoot which is the most peaceful, innocent, and loving is immensely moving and funny.”
Had no idea that Eccleston's fave monsters were the sontarans? wonder which episode he watched of them?

Just wanted to add this set has one of the stories Eccleston wished for. He wanted to do story with "baked potato people" and here he even meets a very spezial Sontaran. Sadly cannot do spoiler tags on phone so cannot go into more detail. But this is one of his favorite stories.

Sounds good to me! Nice lineup of writers, happy that Nine is venturing beyond earth (it’s crazy to think he never went to an alien planet during his series on screen!) and Big Finish do good things with Sontarans. If they portray the Doctor like in Respond to All Calls or Back to Earth, where he’s more upbeat but had that edge, I think they can get some great material from an encounter with them.

...he even meets a very spezial Sontaran. Before Rose... what if the 9th Doctor had a Sontaran companion? {Spoiler} And they fell in love.

Love Josie Lawrence, what a coup! Maureen mentioned at Valiant back in March she’d done a 9DA not as Vicki, so nice to get that confirmed. Really intrigued by their respective stories being deemed funny; that’s been missing from the 9DAs for the most part and should nicely compliment how Chris plays the role on audio.
