I haven’t watched any of the TV series but I’m tempted to dip my toe into the audios - just wondering if I can dive in or if I need to have watched the show itself?

In general I think so The Lost episodes are audio remakes of the mostly lost first season so should be no problem with that - though a warning is that the show was still trying to find it's identity at that point The audio adaptations of comic strips make few references to TV series - the only exception that comes to mind is Return to Castle De'ath in volume 1 - I don't think it really requires knowledge of the episode though I could be mistaken. The novel adaptation of Too Many Targets is probably NOT a good place to start as that was a big reunion book written for fans (though it is a while since I listened to it)

I've never seen the original series, but enjoyed the Lost Episodes sets and the first two Comic Adaptations box sets. The tone in the Lost Episodes can vary really wildly from one story to the next, just FYI, but I liked what I heard.
