I hope there's a story arc linking the stories together across the 2 sets, it would make the adventures stand out from other recent releases.
One thing I loved about 8s era in the past was he was heading towards something.
Charley 101 Paradox arc Divergent Universe Escape arc Lucie Miller CIA Witness Protection Meddling Monk/Rift with Lucie Dark Eyes/Damaged Doctor Doom Coalition/The Eleven Ravenous/The Multi Master Epic
I get the break from 16 parters, but without a narrative thread, there's more pressure on the quality of the stand alone episode, it needs to justify it's existence as a satisfying listening experience.
For example
One off stories 4/5 or above = worth the purchase. Anything lower, I regret wasting my money.
With story arcs I have more patience, as the pay off at the end keeps me engaged.

Couple of days later and this is the first announcement in a while that I’m properly excited about, and I’m not even quite sure why. I much prefer the older 8 era, and want Liv and Helen stories for many more years, but the line-up of writers, Jaye Griffiths and The Great Cyber War really just excite me!

Does anyone wish they would create companions with normal names? Audacity, Flip (Phillipa isn't much better), Hex, Bliss, Case. (I know the show started it...Nyssa, Adric, Romana, Leela, Tegan, Ace, Turlough, etc.) I'm a little bit tired of it. And actually, most of the modern era companions have normal names. (Maybe I'm just cranky today. )

They had Lucie, Hebe, Marc and Margaret so I’d say it’s about half and half. (I mean Hebe isn’t a common name but also not a strange SF nickname either)
Edited to add: I do really not like Audacity as a name - just makes me think of the audio editing program

Probably just cranky...Phillipa is a normal name. As is Bliss. As is Romana. The work mate sitting right next to me has the total normal common name "Romana". But maybe it is uncommon in the UK?
No idea. I also thought Turlough was a normal name over there, it would totally blow minds over here.
Anyways, yes, I too agree that Audacity is totally Over-The-Top.

How about Ethel or Agnes? It's a time travel show after all?

It's a silly name, but since this Doctor has been travelling with Charley, Lucie, Tamsin, Molly, Liv, Helen, Tania, Andy, Sheena, and Bliss, I don't mind a bit of silly.

Turlough is an Irish name, more common in Ireland than the UK. I know someone (Irish) at work called Turlough

I wonder if Audacity isn't so much a name she was born with but one Lady Montague chose as an act of defiance, something akin to what a certain Ms McShane did before her (or after her depending on your temporal point of view). Women's rights in Regency England were non existent and the write up on the website strongly suggests that Audacity has no problem defying convention. And if you are going to have the audacity to challenge the way things were, why not have the name to go with it?
And on a separate note...it would be a nice touch (depending on when in the Regency period the first story is set) if there's a passing mention of a couple of contemporaries of Audacity's. Either Mary Wollstonecraft - the writer and philosopher who penned A Vindication of the Rights of Woman in 1792 - one of the earliest treatise advocating women's rights, or her daughter Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley - who as we all know penned a rather popular horror story and will be a future companion of the Doctor (or was a past companion...temporal point of view again...).

All I hear is "Bridgerton".. What a show that is.
This series/season has me intrigued thanks to the trailer.

Been looking forward to this. Between the 8DAs, Dark Eyes, Doom Coalition and Ravenous all being one continual story, then reunions with Lucie, Charley and Cass, and the occasional Time War, it feels like AGES since we got a brand new McGann timeline to kick off with nothing but him, TARDIS and a new companion.
Will listen tonight. I don't listen to Who in broad daylight, I'm not a monster!
