The Great Cyber-War Part 2 by Tim Foley.
If the second part of this story devolved into more of a traditional Cyber-runaround, it was well done, and there were many set-pieces that made it stand out. The Alien moment - you know what I mean, for one. As a fast-moving, action adventure, it's a great finale to a really terrific set. I like the way it set up elements to Revenge of the Cybermen. Howard Carter's music is decidedly metal and steel sounding and the sound design is wonderful as always. My only gripe is the quick resolution to the tale, and as I've mentioned before, I could have done with more Audacity as the sole companion before welcoming anyone new. A really good set though - I got it on the back of The Bleak Mid Winter, which I look forward to returning to soon. Definitely on board for this new era.

Loved The Devouring. Great concept and Audacity is brilliant, I love that she’s a fully rounded character that’s lived her own life already and those traits will carry on throughout her life aboard the TARDIS. Sometimes we get new companions and drip fed bits of background, but it’s only really their adventures with the Doctor that count for something and what defines them. Great portrayal from Jaye Griffiths.
I was a bit confused why Iggy couldn’t join Audacity at the end? I didn’t seem to pick up on a reason why they couldn’t, everyone’s just very accepting and they bugger off!
The Great Cyber-War is fine, not sure it needs the full two hour running length, though; it doesn’t really seem to do a massive amount. Replace the continued mentions of gold and you could have any other monster in it, as the portrayal of the Cybermen is a bit all over the place. And they don’t seem to be in it a lot in general. I did like Audacity’s involvement in this, though, and thought the unfolding events perfectly suited her personality. The questioning in the beginning, helping out the injured, almost looking forward to the Cybermen arriving to push back, unbeknownst of their power.
The ending with Charley is really clunky. I must confess I’m not a massive fan of her anyway, and I get a little irked by her re-appearances when there’s still series 3 of her own range lingering over. Basically get on with that so she’s not cropping up in things I listen to! My own feelings of her aside, it does seem off to bring her back so early into Audacity’s run, which has been proclaimed as a fresh new start.
Great introduction for Audacity, love her already. I just hope she continues to shine and Charley’s involvement in this run is brief.

But of course they were already set on having Charley return, so Iggy would have been surplus to requirements. Do not get me wrong, I like Charley, but honestly, having Iggy along (instead of Charley) would have been a fresh approach!
This just irks me.
And yes, the return of Charley and the whole ending indeed came across as clunky.

You know, now that you mention it, I actually do rather like Attack of the Cybermen ...
