The Troughton Martian tales that birthed the great warrior race. Which is the superior specimen?

Seeds by a long margin. I’m a sucker for “monsters in the real world”, so those scenes of the Ice Warrior ambling through the park are lovely, the characters are a bit more nuanced than the IW cyphers of “mad leader” “noble rebel” “belligerent Luddite” and “aliens”, there’s a cute blonde, those mental nappy/diaper uniforms… “Yoi can’t kill me …. I’m a genius!”

I love Seeds. It’s just very put together and the supporting characters are really memorable.
The Ice Warriors does get somewhat overlooked. I watched it last year for first time and was very pleasantly surprised. Preferred it to The Abominable Snowmen, contrary to received wisdom.

With Seeds they pull all the filming tricks they can so it looks really good. Agreed Abominable having minimal to no incidental Music gives it an oddly flat Art House film project quality. Seeds, by a country mile. Probably due the scrupt editor more than any other single factor.

I actually prefer The Ice Warriors. I read the Target novel before I saw any of the [surviving] episodes and it was always a favourite of mine.

No… Doctor Who and the Ice Men from Mars… THAT’S a brilliant story. It has Jim Dale fighting a tiger.
