I love serial drama, the excitement of cliffhangers and following a plot over multiple episodes. I've adored the Big Finish releases that have had a serial natural or long running story arcs. I find stand alone stories often rush the narrative and waste a good idea on 45 mins releases.
I was hoping Once and Future would fill my need for a good Doctor Who serial, I'd say it's 50 percent my fault why I've found Once and Future so dissapointing. I've purchased Gallifrey 1 - 3 in the hope I'll enjoy the range enough to invest in Time War, also hoping this will quench my thirst for serial drama.
With all that in mind, I'd love to get some suggestions for the vest Big Finish serial releases?
I've previously enjoyed all the 8th Doctor and War Master boxsets

They aren't done in a boxset, but if you haven't heard Series 5 of The Early Adventures I highly, highly recommend doing so. That's The Dalek Occupation of Winter through The Crash of the UK-201. It feels exactly like listening to the audiobook reconstructions of a bunch of lost First Doctor episodes, they're all excellent stories (particularly the first and last stories), and they do all lead into the next story.
The David Bradley First Doctor Adventures boxsets are also all serialized. I haven't listened to all of them - I stopped after the fourth boxset - but there's some good, even great stories in there, particularly in the second and third sets.

The Torchwood Soho boxsets are fantastic. You can go in with no prior Torchwood knowledge, and each set is 6x30'. They're serialised, have a cliffhanger on every episode, and the boxsets are chronological as well (although they don't directly lead into each other).

Have you listened to the War Doctor range? Either the original sets or the War Doctor begins range? Both are excellent.
And what do you think of the older Monthly Range stories? They are usually 4-part stories and often have some really good cliffhangers.

The Bernice Summerfield range is definitely serialised, especially the later series. The issue there is the book crossovers - while the important novels have been done as audiobooks (the series 2 ones and The Two Jasons), the collections Life During Wartime, Parallel Lives, Something Changed and Present Danger are all important to the ongoing plot.

Such a privilege to listen to the great John Hurt and Carley is uncanny at times. I love the early main range, too many classics to list, my first experiences were Spare Parts, The Holy Terror, Master, Storm Warning and The Chimes of Midnight. They certainly don't make them like that anymore, the golden age of Doctor Who audio drama!
