The Scottish writer, producer has died at 84.
Who-wise, he wrote two real Doctor Who classics - Terror Of The Zygons and Seeds Of Doom. Seminal Tom Baker. Of course his Foe From The Future became a very, very popular Lost Story audio only a few years back in the 4th Doctor Boxset.
He also created the megahit 80s series Bergerac, Shoestrong, Charles Endell Esq, produced The Darling Buds Of May and Lovejoy and wrote for shows like The Sweeney, The Protectors, The Avengers, Jaso, King, Callan, Adam Adamant Lives, The Edgar Wallace Mysteries and Danger Man.
His autobiography, To Put You In The Picture, just came out and received a glowing review in this months DWM.

RIP Robert Banks Stewart, creator of one of the scariest monsters the show has ever seen; the Zygons are such a brilliant creation that they're even more relevant today than they would have been in 1975. A writer truly ahead of his time.

Amazing writer, Seeds Of Doom is one of my top 3 favourite stories & Zygons is in my top 20.
A shame he didn't contribute more stories to Doctor Who as he captured the tone of the show magnificently.
Another very sad day when another great person passes over.

This is getting depressing. The Grimm reaper is on overtime at the moment. 2 of my favourite top 10 doctor who stories. He will be missed. Rip.

Not only did he write an excellent story with Seeds of Doom (I haven't seen Terror of the Zygons), but he also developed a very good storyline with Foe from the Future (realised on audio far better than any visual adaptation of the material). Taken far before he should have been.
