Why would they not take the opportunity to call it Oodyssey?

Why would they not take the opportunity to call it Oodyssey? The number of times I checked to make sure they hadn't Regards mark687

Good Drama
Takes a bit of time to distinguish itself from being perceived as a homage to Ida's pervious TV Eps and there's a couple of standard Family Issues troupes.
Nice dynamic between Claire Rushbrook and Silas Carson (who excels in his dual roles so that depending on who he's playing, might make you want to hit or hug him.)

I really enjoyed this one. Ida works really well as a lead and Silas Carson really throws himself into this role.

Well, it was well performed and very atmospheric. All the creepy alien voices, the psychic link to the Ood (similar to what we have seen in the TV series) and the enclosed environment make for a great setting. The actors do a great job in switching between possessed characters speaking in different voices and their sane counterparts. However, even at the end I was not too sure what was going on exactly, and then why in the end everything had turned to dust? Maybe I need a second listen, but on the first run it did not make sense to me.

It was definitely confusing, but I just checked the TARDIS wiki article about it and the summary there works with what I was hearing. It does appear to explain what was going on in the end. I bet this and the next two would be enhanced by a rewatch of the two episodes with their first appearances. I think I may do that before listening to those two.

After last week's Doctor Who, do we now have to say that it was all because of mavity storms?

Listened to this earlier. Thought it was great for the most part, but let down by the ending which just seemed quite left-field and confusing after the build up. Loved the interaction between Rushbrook & Carson and the background details of the Ood.

Last night I watched The Impossible Planet for the first time in years. The Doctor sure looks young. Listening to this again now remembering who Ida Scott is, this worked a lot better. What happens is clearer as well on second listen as well

I thought that this was ok. The story was perfectly fine but the thing that was sticking in my mind (and this will be the same thing with the next two stories) is…..what is the point of setting Torchwood in the future? Using the Ood is interesting and fits in with Torchwood but I just felt a bit disconnected from the story. Hopefully the next two stories will warm me to the futuristic era of Torchwood.
