Mostly loved it. Looking forward to the next one. I'll sound my note of objection to Murray Gold's malarkey. Segun Akinola was a fabulous composer and I'd have personally preferred if they'd tried to keep him. That said, roll on next week! Same. I guess I'll just have to put up with Gold's musical stating the obvious style for the foreseeable.

I had a lot of fun with this episode! A few minor quibbles first. Much as I love Murray Gold’s music, I did think it was a tad distracting in a couple places and it made it hard to hear what was being said. I think it also was distracting too. There’s a couple of quiet scenes here that are just absolutely lovely and would have worked much better if the score had taken a backseat for a few moments. I also feel like the ending was a little too quick and a little too tidy, which is about what I expect from an RTD script, so it’s not like I’m surprised necessarily, just noting it’s still there.<snip> Yes, I struggled with the dialogue sometimes, even after turning the volume up on the TV (which meant the next thing I watched came in horrendously loud! )
I do feel that The Meep was almost randomly picked as a vehicle to get us oldies tuning in whilst they dealt with the main issue of how to get 10/14 and Donna back together again, which is a shame really.
Lovely to see Ruth Madeley on screen, though not as Hebe Harrison with the 6th Doctor. But annoyingly NOT in the iPlayer credits currently listed with the episode. Miriam gets in as the voice, but then it stops at 'Shaun Temple'. Hmph.

Overnight UK Viewing Figures 5.8 Million (Best Overnights for Who since Resolution of the Daleks and Best Overnights for a Drama Premier this Year) Regards mark687 It looks possible, when the full ratings are in, it'll be the 2nd most watched show of the week behind Strictly Come Dancing. It's currently 7th but even adding the lower end of Jodie's era - where the catchup numbers were at their worst - it'll still knock out most if not all of the I'm A Celeb eps currently above it in the ratings. I don't GET the appeal of Strictly and I'm a Celeb but some of that audience - the ones who watch that reality telly and whatever's getting buzz from mainstream outlets - are the difference between a smash hit and a decent success. It's that audience the show hasn't sustained since 2011, really. There have been some fab ratings but then they've slid till the next new thing. Making Who into event family TV again, like it used to be along with Strictly for the BBC, is surely RTD's number one goal. For context, Who has been the most watched show of the week in the UK once. Ever. 60 years and one ep did it. That ep? Journey's End. Gee, I wonder why RTD thought the DoctorDonna was gonna help get the casuals back onboard! So if this got second? It'd be a hell of a result. That said, these numbers are now more some cool trivia than anything. The Disney deal means it's going to be watched by a LOT of people worldwide regardless, especially when their marketing hits in with Ncuti and "Season 1".

Overall a solid entertaining episode, Tennant & Tate effortlessly merged into there characters like they never left, good story adaption, visuals, my only gripe the opening titles surely you could have put Tennant face in the new titles.8/10 i think was Davey who upthread mentioned that neither RTD or Chibbers are fans of the Doctor’s face in the titles. I wonder if 15 will keep this TARDIS interior.

Opening titles should have face, Doctor opens his mouth & belches out TARDIS. These opening titles were a bit boring to me tbh.

But RTD in Confidental way back was, yeah, not a big fan of the "floating head". The new sequence showed what Russell likes as it was very in keeping with S1-4. None of the clock stuff of S8-10 or the likes. I'm pretty sure this is the new TARDIS for Ncuti, yes. From the way it was talked about in Unleashed. I'm not sure about the credits and theme. They'll perhaps be tinkered for Christmas or "Season 1".

One thing, I hope we don't have the sonic being overused like it was here.

The in-vision commentary was fun, I have missed this VAM over the last few years.

One thing, I hope we don't have the sonic being overused like it was here. It was too much, I agree. Presumably there's a time gap between Destination Skaro and this episode, to allow for how familiar the Doctor appears to be with it's new functions.

I didn’t really find the Sonic to be used anymore than we’ve seen before in the new series, which has always been reliant on it.

The in-vision commentary was fun, I have missed this VAM over the last few years. Yes, and the stacked blurays. RTD and co know what fans want. EVERY ep with commentary (sometimes two), a making of and all sorts of featurettes. Season 9 with Capaldi was the last time a modern Who set was pretty loaded with material. But the minute Moffat took over, and it got worse with Chibnall's era - the home video releases dropped a lot in VAM. RTD ones can stand near to the classic sets.

I wonder if 15 will keep this TARDIS interior. Phil Collinson said it is indeed the new TARDIS for the upcoming series on the In-Vision Commentary and that "you'll see it doing a lot of things". David says he visited Ncuti and Millie on it too!
