Gald to hear more from Sadie, and delighted we're getting another feature-length episode. Jonathan Morris's stories can be a bit hit-and-miss, but when he's on form, he's wonderful. I hope this large story canvas inspires something great.

So it looks like we're getting the third part of a loose trilogy (by theme) in the spirit of Malcolm Hulke, since they mention 'Colony in Space' and 'Frontier in Space'. For me, he was the best writer of the Pertwee years, with five classics over the five seasons (and yes I am including 'Colony in Space', I like westerns!)
We've seen the Doctor and Jo pre-visit Draconia, now it's back to the colonists and miners.
But hang on a second, these colonists are miners. So are they the good guys, or the bad guys? I'MCertainly looking forward to finding out!

This tempts me strongly. Not the story, no tempting required, that's obviously a 'where do I pay the money and how soon can I' release. Hoping for something very Hulkeian.
But I'm always torn between hearing the trailer (which is fun) and going into the story completely fresh, which is also fun.
Flip a double-headed martian penny?

Very good trailer. Not a clue what's going on (good) but very intriguing (also good.) I know I'm totally biased, but the 3DAs are one of the very best ranges BF produce for their consistency and authenticity. I can hardly believe this year will see Vols 13 & 14.

Yes BF seem to have rediscovered the intrigue and puzzle style of trailer again. Regards mark687

Just pre-ordered. I'm not so interested in Season 7 set stories, so I've not heard the last set yet but I can't say no to the 3rd Doctor in epics like Frontier in Space.
I'd love an appearance from the Delgado Master soon, then for me this range has hit perfection.

I'm really looking forward to this one.
The 3rd Doctor having adventures in Space is always really special to me as he has so many UNIT Earthbound stories.
UNIT are great but there's any so often you can hear stories based around invasion and government conspiracy before you hunger for something a bit different.
I'm trying to remember all of 3s space adventures from the TV show.
My favourites are Carnival of Monsters, the Peladon serials and Frontier in Space.
I think there was also Colony in Space, Planet and Death of the Daleks.
I'd also love the 3rd Doctor to have some more weird serials like some the other Doctors,
For example something like The Mind Robber, Warriors Gate, Kinda, Enlightenment, The Greatest Show in the Galaxy or Ghost Light.

The Malcolm Hulke "Tool Kit" with a surprise dash of Hinchcliffe and a very very insightful take on being new to time travel from Sarah Jane delivered superbly by Sadie.

Revolution in Space begins with some enjoyably light-hearted bickering between Sarah and The Doctor. For all their time on television together, Sarah is always thought more of a Fourth Doctor companion than by her travels with Jon Pertwee – so there’s a real sense of character with these scenes. That this partnership should still sound so fresh is testament to all concerned.
Jonathan Morris places this tale when Earth is full of ‘grey cities, concrete and steel’, so this, as the title suggests, takes place in ‘space’. Episode one features a lot of exposition setting up a Barry-Letts-like political story structure. Happily, this is writer Jonathan Morris unencumbered by a fifty-page checklist of continuity issues, so he’s free to let his imagination run - although there’s more than a hint of Malcolm Hulke here, which is fine with me. We get two plot strands – insurrection and telepathic suggestion (Juliet Aubrey is excellent and sometimes very sensual as the Lector-esque Zyla).
In Disc 1’s extra’s, Nick Briggs, whom I don’t usually have a problem with, comes across as a being particularly condescending in his reminiscences of the recording. Presumably as director, he edits the extras and I’m surprised an anecdote about reprimanding the actors was considered necessary to share. Perhaps it was included just as a laugh and I didn’t get it; it wouldn’t be the first time.
It may be true to say the story lags a little in the middle. Strangely enough, and probably quite without reason, I had a hankering to hear some monsters. Like the Drashigs livened up Carnival of Monsters, some slavering, frightening non-humans could have bolstered parts three and four – but even so, things get back into gear for the final instalments. Sometimes you really cannot beat “Doctor – help me,” as a cliffhanger, can you?
A ’masses versus the classes’ story isn’t hugely original, but there are enough good twists, characters and performances here to guarantee the usual high standards the 3DAs enjoy, although the Doctor has a pretty big ‘ask’ to make of Sarah toward the end.
I still love the ‘in-house’ style of these 3DAs – Nick’s music, Tim and Sadie/Daisy/Katy, The Brig. They’re a truly cohesive team. The six-parters continue to prove ideal for this era, especially for a story with this much going on. Repeat listens are guaranteed – in order to traverse the multiplicity of the plot-line’s flow, you understand.

Not bad at all. Pertwee paint by numbers, and not quite sure it justifies six episodes, but it really comes into its own with the characterisation of the Doctor and Sarah. Their bickering was a great addition, I enjoyed how much Sarah challenges the Doctor and puts him in his place, especially when he was quickly prepared to have her sacrifice herself. Also loved how we were already partway through the adventure when the opening titles to episode one stop.

Really, really loved this. Complex, great character and a terrific performance from Juliet Aubrey as the villain (a Master/Missy in waiting, surely). My take is up at CultBox.
