In fact, I never read any of the novels, which means that I had the bonus of enjoying the Novel Adaptations range as brand new stories and enjoyed them very much. I was surprised they weren't very good sellers, but that went for the Comic Adaptations too and I loved that set as well. I still want them to follow up on the promise inherent in The Comic Strip Adaptations being "Volume One" by releasing a Volume Two. Hopefully including Star Beast II.
That also goes for The New Adventures and The Sixth Doctor and Peri (Volume Ones with no Volume Twos yet).

For a novel to be adaptable the author would have to give the OK (we know Lungbarrow wasn't done because Platt wasn't keen), it would have to translate well to audio, the story fit into 2-3 hours, the cast needs to be distilled down to a maximum number of actors... If a story wasn't done there was probably a reason.

Has BF ever done a Great Vampire story before? Zagreus had Colin Baker’s vampire lord. Otherwise, they’ve been exclusively the Earthbound cousins. Fascinating. I wonder why. Isn't it amazing how even after all these years Big Finish has barely scratched the surface with some Doctor Who villains?

Interesting this is coming in at 180 mins as previous Novel Adaptations had all been 120 minutes (except Cold Fusion). I would have thought Goth Opera was one of the "lighter" NA/MAs in terms of page count and complexity and if they could do other stories in 120 minutes, they could have done this in 120 minutes too. Not that I'm complaining, mind you! The benefit of Big Finish’s obsession with making all their releases 3 disks. It is a detriment to some ranges, but will hopefully be good for the Novel Adaptions range going forward.

That image really is a thing of beauty. Even if I knew nothing about the story, I'd probably snap that up for the cover alone.
