Best news all year! My favourite audio Doctor returns! (Hopefully with his leitmotif in tow). Can't wait to see where his journey goes next and what kind of place he's in after the Begins saga (though the final Sontarans vs Rutans might give us some indication towards that)
Truly chuffed. They were being quite eerie about whether Carley had left or would be returning. I wasn't expecting anything War Doctor related past Sontarans vs Rutans for at least a year or so.

Nothing about CDs being limited edition, which is good. Helps my cashflow management

Interesting new direction for this incarnation.

Big, big, big, big fan of this approach. The War Doctor sets (Carley and Hurt alike) have the curious knack of enthralling me in the moment, but slipping from the memory when done, never quite exceeding the sum of their good-to-brilliant parts.
The single-writer, single-story sets have been a happy exception to this. I can’t wait to find out who they’ve let play in this space. (Too much to hope they got another three hours out of Tim Foley before his hiatus?)

"Now he’s going to have a harder edge, because he’s learned to let go of that past identity, and now he’s on a mission to deliver what he set out to do." Finally! I hope this is true & not more BF hyperbole. I get it that BF are probably limited by the BBC in what they can do with the Doctor even the War Doctor but this could be good.

I’m very much looking forward to these.
Jonathon Carley’s War Doctor has been excellent and it looks like lessons were learned from the popular reception of He Who Fights With Monsters. I’m very much looking forward to the writer driven approach.
While I love multiple stories in each set, the new single story to a release being put out by Big Finish has been working very well for me. I feel like they’re finally starting to lean into the flexibility of the 3disc sets.
I’m very much looking forward to more news about these sets!

I'm another who really likes the writer-led approach. I really enjoyed He Who Fights With Monsters, with Robert Valentine really making the entire set his own take on The War Doctor. I absolutely welcome this darker approach to the character as well.
Big Finish are coming up with some great things at the moment.

Great announcement. Glad to get more from Carley and the War Doctor and the writer-led format sounds excellent. Really looking forward to advancing this incarnation further; this announcement makes Comrade-in-Arms & Enemy Mine seem like more of a diversion now, although glad to have got them.

Yeah it definitely feels like He Who Fights With Monsters is the bedrock for this reboot, so last two sets feel oddly out of place. Not a slight on their quality though.

The titles for these War Doctor series are giving Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy vibes!
Anyways, I’m not fully caught up on the War Doctor Begins, but I’m very happy to see the range continuing! Hopefully I’ll be caught up in time for August!

I feel like Enemy Mine in particular welds the Case storyline to the character work done in He Who Fights With Monsters. Particularly the Barber-Surgeon's appraisal of the War Doctor "There isn't another way, but you would always hope to find one" which is exactly how he deals with Case at the end of Enemy Mine. Plus it concludes some of the Dalek stuff from Monsters, such as the Strategist's increasingly rebellious tendencies.
