Mentioned in a BBC Books Statement.
The 10th doctor, David Tennant, reappears in Jenny Colgan’s latest novel In the Blood, due May. Tying in with audio innovations from Big Finish, BBC Books hopes the book will allow fans to "enjoy Tennant’s comeback" in as many formats as possible.

Oh that's interesting. Do we know if Donna is the companion?

I have no idea what that statement means. A new Tenth Doctor Novel will be out in May, coinciding with Big Finish releasing Volume One of The Tenth Doctor Adventures featuring The Tenth Doctor and Donna.

I was being sarcastic and mocking a very awkwardly worded press release. It seems there not at all confident in the book's release. I understand having some trepidation about releasing a novel with The Tenth Doctor Adventures coming up, but it's another thing to actually show it! Why not release the book a month earlier?

Maybe BBC Books are hoping for cross-promotion, Big Finish listeners learn about the book through Big Finish and readers learn about Big Finish through the book.

I suspect its a ham fisted approach to cross marketing, especially now that Doctor Who Fan show is featuring BF.
Sarcasm aside, what exactly is this "Tying in with audio innovations from Big Finish" referring to? What innovations?

Sarcasm aside, what exactly is this "Tying in with audio innovations from Big Finish" referring to? What innovations? As you say, ham-fisted. It's probably trying to refer to Big Finish using the Tenth Doctor in full cast, but that's a licencing breakthrough, not an innovation. The word innovation just sounds more impressive.

All the CDs are coming with scratch and sniff cards, so throughout the story you can smell the adventure (who knew the TARDIS smelt like wattle and freshly mown grass?).

John Waters is helping spearhead this breakthrough?

We've had a pitiful amount of Capaldi-era books. I'd like some more of those now we're not getting a new series this year.

I agree. More Twelve in print would not be unwelcome.

I think this is the 1st time since Night that the BBC have done any direct marketing for BF? To me it read like "enjoy the return in Audio by BF AND in Print by BBC books with input by BF.

While I agree with your explanation as to the benefits of sharing the publicity, this marketing is nothing to do with the BBC - they don't own BBC Books who made the press statement. Penguin Random House, under the Ebury imprint, is the owner with the Beeb only having a minority interest. Though Justin Richards is still head honcho, I believe, of the books so it wouldn't be too hard to co-ordinate given he's also all over BF.

Agreed - but its not semantics to point out this isn't the BBC promoting BF
