Agreed - but its not semantics to point out this isn't the BBC promoting BF

I'll bore anyone with facts till they submit Sometimes my facts are even true! I think the oddest part of the statement is "BBC Books hopes the book will allow fans to "enjoy Tennant’s comeback" in as many formats as possible." You'd think they'd say "The Tenth Doctor's comeback" as Tennant has nothing to do with the book, surely. Maybe an audiobook reading but that's a bit tenuous.

If you want your press release to be picked up by the press, much better to say Tennant than 10th Doctor, although how David feels about having his name used to promote something he'll never get paid for I don't know.

Well, you'd say "The Tenth Doctor as played by David Tennant", then wouldn't you? Not "The 10th doctor, David Tennant, reappears in Jenny Colgan’s latest novel In the Blood". It just reads like it was written by a 10 year old. David Tennant does, obviously, not appear in the novel.

I feel like we're possibly getting distracted by the small things, though.
I would be interesting if there was a tie-in for the books and audios, even informally. It certainly looked that way when BBC Books announced a River Song book the same month BF released the River boxset. Benny appearing in a Nu-Who book was also a nice link-up, intentionally or not.
The dream for me would be Jago and Litefoot books written as Victorian penny dreadfuls but I doubt there's enough appeal.

gosh....I do really hate modern day advertising/Marketing
....."family friendly" "innovations" "infographics" what a load of bull?@{~
what happened to, a synopsis and a release date
When they had to pay for a press releases, you got a lot less nonsense.
take me back to the 70's and 80's Doctor! oh wait...no big finish no forums no internet.....ok leave me here, I will put up with it & just moan...

I think part of the issue is no one is quite sure how to market Who in print form it seems. Since the relaunch, the vast majority of novels have been geared toward Young Adult at best and 1 step above kiddie quick reads at worst. The couple full length "adult" geared novels- Wheel of Ice and Harvest of Time were good.. but didn't catch on like I had hoped.
I may sound old and crotchety but I really miss the daysd when Virgin Publishing had the license- yes they went in directions no one liked at times but they had some really good stuff as well. I keep hoping the Beeb will allow smaller publishers to run with Who in the way Candy Jar books is doing with the Brig novels... they are utterly fantastic.

Given the announcement relates to Big Finish, BBC Books knows knows that a part of their audience are more in the know already knows about Ten's adventures in extended media (the comics and the recent novel repints) then others - so for me, at any rate, the phrasing seems pretty apt to me.

Who cares about the way the press release is worded? It's another 10th Doctor adventure!

Let's hope we get David Tennant reading the audiobook. Sadly, I think it's probably highly unlikely given his schedule

True, but that was very much when he was The Doctor and wasn't it his breakout role? He might want to leave an audience wanting more and distance himself from the part.

I can't see that having done audio books in the past matters, and if he wanted to leave the audience wanting more and wanted to distance himself from the role he wouldn't be working with BF.
I would suggest that whilst he remains an in demand actor, what will sway him is whether he enjoys doing the work or not, I've never worked for BF or done a book reading, but I would expect working for BF was far more interesting than a book reading.

I hope the novel will feature Ten and Donna. The shadow of The End of Time looms large over the Titan Comics series and Hounded and it'd be nice to see Ten back in simplier happier times.

True, but keep in mind his return to the role was meant to be a suprise. I'd imagine the news was meant to go out after Jessica Jones was well and truly released and Teannet had established himself in America.

We've had a pitiful amount of Capaldi-era books. I'd like some more of those now we're not getting a new series this year. It's possible this year will be very much like the specials year for Twelve - Titan have already marketed their Twelve comics as 'Twelve and Clara's golden years' - and we'll be getting a lot of Twelve material in extended media.

I don't get your logic, Jessica Jones was over and done with by November last year, whether he reads the hoped for audio of the novel is something that will happen in the future.

He might want to leave an audience wanting more and distance himself from the part. I don't see that at all. He's come back to the role twice in the past 3 years. Hardly distancing himself.

It's possible this year will be very much like the specials year for Twelve - Titan have already marketed their Twelve comics as 'Twelve and Clara's golden years' - and we'll be getting a lot of Twelve material in extended media. The "golden years" thing is from Moffat - it's how he described Series 9's relationship between The Doctor and Clara so they're just sticking with what he says there rather than anything different. With ongoing monthlies for 9, 10 and 11 there's not too much making Twelve stand out in the comics. If we don't get some Capaldi era books this year, we'll be in the odd position of having more new Tenth Doctor content in all media this year than Twelfth. By years end I'd like some more 12-books, another "event" in the Titan run and if they could get Capaldi to do one or two of the original audio stories like the Winter-miniseries we've just had, that would be great.
