Another great podcast, Robert! Daisy is so easy to listen to, and seems lovely! I found all of her musings and anecdotes extremely interesting, from her talented and storied family to her thoughts on DS and her current projects! I hope she's a part of the DS family going forward! My only complaint--I won nothing!!

Very well done! Fascinating podcast throughout plus it was wonderful to hear Daisy's perspective on her Big Finish Dark Shadows characters. They're very interesting characters both in the challenges they seem to present (partly because they have strong connectivity with the original series), and in the way that we as listeners seem to respond to them. She seemed wonderfully involved and insightful about all of the above.
Also I loved the original series clips, and they do a perfect job framing one of the really momentous things about Blood & Fire, which is that it sheds light on mysteries not only of long standing with the series, but mysteries which inadvertently lead directly to the unleashing of everyone's favorite reluctant vampire. I was often of half a mind to track down the episodes they came from myself after listening to Blood & Fire, so thanks!

Big Finish is part of the reason that I keep re-watching the series and the audios. I'll take a break, but then new audios come out with references to parts of the show that tempt me to start from scratch. I'm certainly getting my money's worth out of the Barnabas coffin with the whole series in it.
I've said this before, I love the Collinsport Historical Society. I keep up with those and usually give each podcast a few listen-throughs, just to ensure I've savored every moment, or if it's about future Big Finish stories, every subtle hint I possibly can pick up, haha.

Here it is - my last CHS podcast of 2016. www.collinsporthistoricalsociety.com/2016/12/podcast-dark-shadows-short-story.html?m=1In November 2016, across America and in the U.K., the first recording sessions took place for the 2017 Big Finish Productions DARK SHADOWS short story collections. The collections feature the return of many favourite characters including Elizabeth Stoddard, Roger Collins, Dr Julia Hoffman, Professor T. Elliot Stokes and ... Harry Johnson. I took the opportunity to visit the UK recording session to ask Stephanie Ellyne and Matthew Waterhouse about the stories they were performing. And Matthew, alongside fellow writers Rob Morris, Aaron Lamont, Alan Flanagan and Daniel Hinchliffe, joined co-producer Joseph Lidster to tell me about the tales they've got in store. The last of the 2016 collections 'Haunting Memories' is out in December and stars Kathryn Leigh Scott, Marie Wallace, Jerry Lacy and Lara Parker - reading her own story, her debut writing for Big Finish.

And a very nice podcast it was! Some interesting tidbits and insights, and information on a short or two we hadn't yet heard about

I have to say that despite all you may hear, we weren't drunk. Slightly hysterical after a long day of recording, maybe, but not a drop of alcohol had passed our lips.
But after that was recorded... oh my.

Am I mistaken or did I hear Joe Lidster say at the beginning of the podcast that BF is not doing any more DS dramatic readings? It's just going to be short stories and (one?) full-cast audio a year from now?

Those one-word answers are mysteriously (and annoyingly) cryptic! Tease!

No more dramatic readings? Sigh... As always, we wouldn't wish any hardships on our most esteemed producers Messrs. Lidster and Darlington, but my offer still stands to buy 3 new Dark Shadows audios a month, provided Big Finish will make them.

I will miss the dramatic readings audios, but will be very happy with whatever comes our way.

I don't think the "Dramatic Readings" were even dramatic readings once Lidster stepped onto the scene. They became genuine mini-cast audios/two-hander dramas. It was an amazing amount of ambitious work for what got billed as an "audio-book" or "reading". The new short story collections are much more like Companion Chronicles. While dramatically different, they allow for different kinds of stories to be told, with a different subset of characters that simply cannot be used otherwise. I think this is a good thing! Variety is good too. Big Finished produced Dark Shadows has been constantly evolving, which is one reason it's been so good and lasted so long. And more surprises might be just over the horizon...
