Todays plan is the back half of Myth Makers, Daughter of the gods and the first half of DMP. With any luck I might be able to squeeze in the little drummer boy.

The Rocket Men
A heart-felt and very well told story for Ian. The cliffhanger is especially brilliant.

Hunters of Earth (Nigel Robinson)
You know, I’m a little surprised Big Finish haven’t done more with the idea in recent years that the First Doctor’s presence on Earth has drawn the attention of other interested parties.

Today’s listening is The Little Drummer Boy, the Anachronauts and an Ordinary Life.
I’ve never cared for Anachronauts or An Ordinary Life, Anachronauts feels a little too derivative of Time’s Crucible and Ordinary just wasn’t to taste.
Still, I can’t argue with stories featuring Jean Marsh!

Just had a long overdue relisten to series one of The Diary of River Song. Fantastic set. Alex is on blistering form from the get go in four varied stories that perfectly complement River. It's an expertly linked set, to say the four episodes are distinct and penned by different writers. As a mate said, this could be an epic film!
Hope we get more archaeology River in the future; it's an infrequently used aspect of the character, surprisingly. I hope Jenny Colgan returns to write for her at some point too; a set penned by her and Jac Rayner would be glorious.

On the train to/back from Leeds, I listened to:
Ghost Walk - Good offering from Goss, but wow it's a bleak one! Bordering on cruel even, but hey, sign of good drama there if I'm that invested in one of my least favourite teams.
The Wreck of The Titan - not listened to City or Legend, but I knew the basic gist and well... having that knowledge doesn't help much. There's some fun moments, like Colin and Fraser together again, but I felt like the pin should've dropped a lot sooner with what was really going on. The piling on of twists and wrongfoots just felt more protracted than evolving. The 'solution' the Doctor comes up with feels, somehow, more stretching than if he just arrived at the actual answer.

Gonna finish An Ordinary Life today, and with any luck I’d like to finish the Sarah Kingdom trilogy today.
Some very good stories ahead today!

Carrying on with The Diary of River Song and volume two’s The Unknown & Five Twenty-Nine. I’ve not actually heard this since its first release nearly 5 and a half years ago!
The Unknown had far more of Sylvester’s Doctor in it than I remembered. For some reason, my memory was telling my his appearance in the set was quite sparse until the Doctor interaction at the end of the set. An often confusing listen, but with just enough to keep you intrigued. I don’t really buy that River loves Seven as much as she would, say, Four Eight, Ten, Eleven or Twelve, though; just doesn’t ring true to me.
And Five Twenty-Nine is just as superb on a relisten. One that’s really stuck with me and I’m glad was revisited in volume eight.

I’ve just finished Series 3, and I hadn’t listened to the early sets in a long while and I have to really commend how most of it really stands up, apart for The Furies for myself. And Series Two was actually a lot better than I remembered!
