At the moment, whilst dinner is finishing cooking, I'm watching 'Arc Of Inifinity' part 4. You know, it might be 'just' because I've been watching it across four days, but I've actually been really rather enjoying it this time around!
Either before bed tonight or tomorrow, I'm planning on starting 'Four To Doomsday', as I skipped over it (and the three following stories) between watching 'Castrovalva' in January and 'Earthshock' a couple of weeks ago

Finally finished my season 22 re-watch and it holds up really well, some of the location shots are lovely (I’m looking at you, Mark of the Rani), and the atmosphere is a little non-prime time tv but very engaging, it’s fascinating to re-watch knowing just how good Colin is, as shown by Big Finish. It’s also funny how forgiving Peri is of the Doctor’s general ratty-ness! The violence is a bit of a surprise every time though, crushed hands, numerous stabbings, just a bit too visceral for Doctor Who tbh. However, looking back as a grown up, it all makes for an interesting new, if temporary, balance for the programme. Not sure about the double length episodes though. Best saved for New Who, I think. All in all, this season does rather well, I have to say, as does the following. A fine launch pad for Sixie’s excellent Big Finish incarnation! I’d like to give a special shout out to my BritBox subscription at this point, which is providing tons of Classic Who at a bargain price.

This evening I've watched parts 2-4 of 'Four To Doomsday' & it was fine enough, I guess?
If I have time before bed, I might watch part 1 of 'Kinda'

Over the past few days I've been making my way through 'Kinda' (I'll be watching part 3 before bed tonight), part 3 of 'Inferno' on Saturday (its fiftieth).
Earlier this evening I (finally) finished 'Sil & The Devil-Seeds Of Arodor'. "This is why I drink, this is why I drink..." (The models looked good though, so that's something?)

Last night I finished watching 'Kinda', which I think I enjoyed more than I did last time! (As with 'Arc Of Infinity', maybe because I've been doing an episode a day?).
This evening I'll be making a start on 'The Visitation'.

K9 and Company - Possibly the cheesiest/best theme song in the entire Doctor Who universe. K9 being cool while Sarah Jane lounges around doing nothing. Not a great pilot, I am curious as to what the rest of the show would have been like, since they revealed a bunch of the townsfolk as part of an evil coven in the first episode....
Castrovalva - I like this story a fair bit, but I had forgotten how strange and kinda goofy the first half is.

I ended up travelling down quite the rabbit hole once and finding the one-off K9 Annual they made for the series. Judging from the stories there, it looks as though the series could have been about K9 and Sarah investigating witchcraft and cults across Britain. On film sets, on trains, in lochs, and so on. Not a bad premise and a classic Doctor Who science vs. superstition dynamic.

Always up for a Doctor Who does the Wicker Man style folksy tale. Loved it first time around and yes, I have had the Annual since the 1980's. I see it as a cosy 50 minutes or so and always wanted more of the same when it came to Sarah's comebacks on Audio & Nu Who. For old times sake, of course. We aren't all Pagans out in the sticks here, mind. Honestly....

I am a pagan out in the sticks, and I was actually kind of surprised that while most of the coven stuff on the show is made up, they clearly did do some research. The way the circle is laid out, and a few other specific things stuck out to me as more realistic than what you get when the writers just wing it. Anyhow, the pilot makes it seem like Sarah's going to stay in town a la Twin Peaks. But I like the idea of Sarah and K9 tackling more supernatural cases versus the sci-fi on the parent show. It's a better idea. Though, I think if it was going to be just witchcraft and cultists it would have gotten stale. They'd have had to diversify at some point. I guess we'll never know. I wouldn't have minded a throwback to something like this on SJA, like as a Halloween special or something. Thanks for reminding me about the Wicker Man, too, I had planned to watch that sometime. I've only seen the, uh, interesting Nick Cage version.

My Brother got married at Eilean Donan Castle, which they actually hired for private use (The New Avengers titles sequence, Highlander, and the cover of the VHS of Terror of the Zygons amongst other things) and we stayed at nearby Plocton where we had the evening reception, which i did not realise was one of the key locations of the Wicker Man at the time I was there. It was also the setting for Hamish Macbeth with Robert Carlyle (we stayed in what was supposed to be his Police Station residence). Anyhow, the additional recovered VHS footage makes a more rounded film of it and with more of the village. It is also Christopher Lee's favourite of his many film performances. Least said of the remake the better...

From Callan to Howie to Morant to McCall. Always nice to see his face pop up in these things. When I got the Season 18 Blu-Ray set, it was the first thing we watched. Out of curiosity, if I were doing research on paganism, where would be a good place for me to look for some good, solid information on practices?

Caught Voyage of the Damned on Watch.
I think it’s the encapsulation of the RTD era at its average. Tennant’s Doctor is in his prime, RTD efficiently establishes a mix of characters and the plot is perfectly paced, jumping from spectacle to quieter scenes with ease. It’s not anything outstanding but it’s a perfectly enjoyable ride, and sometimes that’s all you need.

Out of curiosity, if I were doing research on paganism, where would be a good place for me to look for some good, solid information on practices? I mean, I can only speak for Wicca, but a few books worth looking into would be: A Witches' Bible by Stewart and Janet Farrar Triumph of the Moon by Ronald Hutton Buckland's Complete Book of Witchcraft by Raymond Buckland There's a lot of variation out there, so if you look into multiple books you will sometimes find differing practices, but it's all built out of the same framework, more or less. The first and third detail beliefs and practices. Hutton's book is more of an academic examination of modern paganism and its historical context.
