Extremis The Pyramid At The End Of The World The Lie Of The Land Capaldi is far becoming one of my favourite Doctors He's brilliant isn't he. On my view, he has grown on me even more since he left the role and is viewed retrospectively. I only really point this out because the other 'Nu Who' (never too keen on that term) Doctors I rarely revisit - much to my own surprise. Capaldi's stories, however, have had a number of revisits, and there's always something new to see in his performance, Much the same rewatching I have totally enjoyed his performance and more especially playing against Pearl Mackie who really is a great actress and looking at it now it is a pity she didn’t get a longer run at being Bill, but there definitely is room for her and Capaldi in BF if they ever get round to it.

Yes, we needed much more Twelve+Bill. And Nardole too! Still, as you say, lots of room for BF to expand their season when (let's say when shall we? ) the opportunity arrives...

I struggle with this era of Who but Bill & Nardole did give the show a lift. It would have been better to start this way & dump the baggage of Clara earlier.

Well I did the whole Clara thing again and I do appreciate what they were trying to do now...so the episodes without the baggage work really well...plus sometimes having a bit of distance from show helped too....after all it is only a tv show

Actually on first watch when it aired Nardole annoyed me greatly but now he is actually growing on me (I have said before I do not or did not enjoy comedy WHO but he works well as a team member.Bill though is a brilliant actress and probably I think one of the strongest actresses in the companion role i think rewatching them I am seeing the more stand alone tale aspect which the series really needed to get back to (IMO) ok yes you have the ongoing thread with MISSY but it really on reviewing is very much new watcher friendly

There’s a horror movie called Alien? That’s really offensive. No wonder everyone keeps invading you.

I would have loved a recording of her with David Collings as they both have wonderful voices.

Once again I have reached Children of Earth in a marathon and once again I must praise it as a work of utter genius.

Once again I have reached Children of Earth in a marathon and once again I must praise it as a work of utter genius. I've seen it exactly once, at broadcast in 2009 and I can remember it in detail across 11 years and so much other media since. Outstanding drama.

Something I really liked going into it was that Nardole is, for all intents and purposes, the POV character for longtime fans of the series. Someone who knows the Doctor, his behaviour and history, and keeps him honest on the foibles we know he'll try to skirt around. Bill, on the other hand, is a fresh new face with all the energy that implies. She jumpstarts the series and gets us back into the swing of things. Recapturing the glee of discovering all this for the first time. Altogether, we've got the old, the new and the Doctor. There's a lot you can do with that and I think Series 10 seizes that with both hands.

Hello again.
Ooh series 10. I enjoyed this series far more than series 9. It wasn't perfect, the Monk trilogy could have been more engaging, but on the whole it was great. The TARDIS team are a lot of fun and when Missy gets involved things really escalate. Is she a reformed character?
The World Enough and Time is the creepiest, darkest Who in a long time.

Genuinely clever, too. The Johnny Got His Gun moment with the "patients" in the wards is probably up there as iconic imagery for the Cybermen. I enjoyed how much thought was put into rounding out the Doctor's characterisation over the season. His conversation with Bill about "Have you ever killed anyone?" brought back memories of "Know thine enemy, Sarah," from Pyramids of Mars. It doesn't shy away from the fact. I liked that a lot. It confronted it, addressed it and Twelve came out the stronger for admitting the inherent contradictions in his own character. That was the bit where, I suppose we could call it Phase 3(?) of his characterisation clicked for me. Oxygen might be my favourite just for pure imagery alone. Like the space walk. The Monk trilogy I watched to the mind as individual episodes that just happened to feature the same villains. Standalone, the stories are compelling, but combined together... I think the problem there -- for me, at least -- was that we never really got to know the Monks beyond a shadowy presence.

I did one an evening. I was considering doing the part-animated 'Shada' after doing overtime at work this evening, but they're put me down for 8hrs instead of 6 (and the release of 'Gallifrey: Time War 4'), I won't have the time...
