I was surprised that there was no hints of other things to come. They never even mentioned Charley and Graceless - or as they are original Big Finish creations do they not fit in with the Worlds of Doctor Who?

I think they'd be Worlds of Big Finish, same as Benny and Vienna. But yes, it was a strange item, the opening made it sound exciting, but it was just a round up of the next three months releases that were already confirmed.

I wonder how long it'll be before they announce a Jago & Litefoot & Strax sequel?
It seems somewhat inevitable to me. Jago & Litefoot & Strax & Vastra Too maybe?

Well perhaps I am reading too much into what has been said, but it sounds like there are changes coming to Jago & Litefoot at the end of this next box set. I used to like change, but over the years I've changed... For me Jago & Litefoot is the best and most consistently entertaining range Big Finish does. I would relish more Jago & Litefoot and a-n-other, however I would like the Paternosters to get there own series in time. But for now Big Finish need to stock up on Jago & Litefoot releases for the foreseeable future!

If there's any changes, I think the most it would be is Strax being a recurring character along Jago & Litefoot. I doubt they'd bring the entire Paternoster Gang into a series, probably just a backdoor pilot in the form of a 'Jago & Litefoot & Strax'.

Perhaps... it's the end but the moment has been prepared for. Seriously they've been churning these out at a steady rate for years now and we have no idea whether both principals are willing and able to continue at same pace. Perhaps 12 would be a good time to wrap it all up and transition, hopefully to Paternoster gang (perhaps with Jago and Litefoot guest featuring in one story per box set or so to begin with)

As the leads are getting older it would make sense to have a definite end rather than another cliff hanger. They could then continue to appear (in other stories) without the same pressure. I would like to see them bring in the Paternoster gang and have a couple of transitional stories before a full on Paternoster series, a "handing over" if you like. I wonder if a similar thing is going to happen with Counter Measures /New Counter Measures? Cheers Tony

Try as I might, I cannot find any details about series 12 of Jago and Litefoot. I do remember hearing that Jason Haigh Ellory said there would be 'at least 12 series of J & L'. It's a heck of a lot, but I don't have any desire to see the old boys disappear for a while yet.
I do, however, find their inclusion in the forthcoming 4th Doctor series a bit unneccessary. Considering these stories are supposed to take place during the televised series 18 - a time of relaunch and innovation for Who - the inclusion of so many returnees (Sontarans, Movellans and J & L) seems very out of step with the innovative, forward-looking style of that time.

That's a very good point although I guess it counterbalances at least slightly that I don't think I've noticed before. I'm probably "more the merrier" about anything 4th Doctor when you get right down to it... or about all classic Doctors maybe? I was just noticing last night the upcoming J&L 4DA and actually looking forward to it. Am I correct that it will be the first time J&L have met Romana II?

I'm not against J&L meets 4DA's (I love 'em!), it's just that the light-hearted aspects the story is likely to have is something that I don't think Chris H Bidmead would have considered for series 18 - not that BF should perhaps be slavishly following Bidmead's 'no jokes' approach, but this kind of thing seems to go actively against it. This is all speculation on my part, of course, I could be completely wrong

And the series has fewer episodes featuring characters from the past than the actual season 18! Let me think, Series 18 had four episodes of Logopolis featuring The Master, in which he was kept pretty much under wraps until episode 2 - and he was played by an actor new to the role, bringing with him a new style to the character. Also, Keeper of Traken had the reveal of the Master in episode 3 - although again played by another different actor. This new audio series has two episodes featuring The Movellans, two featuring the Sontarans and two featuring Jago and Litefoot - at least, as far as I can make out. This I pick up from the promotional blurb - clearly you know more about the actual content than I! Regarding Leisure Hive and Meglos (the latter being a still under-valued gem as far as I'm concerned. "That's impossible!" "Yes, the ultimate impossibility...") - Meglos was the jokiest story from series 18 IMO, but The Leisure Hive was a story crammed with Bidmead-isms, which made up a lot of the style of series 18, for me - and that is still very different from 'The Doctor meets J&L again'. This is just the way I see it. I look forward to the stories, indeed I have them on pre-order. It's just that Series 18 is Doctor Who's high-point for me; I love everything about it, and while I welcome an extension of that era hugely, what I've heard about it so far isn't typical of that style.

The Fourth Doctor and Romana - for me Doctor Who doesn't get any better than that!
Having read the article in DWM what I am most surprised about is there is no mention of the "earthling" from Meglos joining the Tardis team. I thought it had been strongly hinted by Nick Briggs in Vortex (I think) that they might have taken the "long way" when returning him home.
At least we now know who the returning old enemies are, but I still haven't seen any hint regarding the tease that "Romana's past begins to catch up with her..."

I'd say the Master is in all of Keeper, TBH, but your mileage may vary. I know what you mean about Leisure Hive, but I think it's still got its craziness and humour - Mafia lizards, 'arrest the scarf' etc. But I'd say season 18 is more varied in tone than its given credit for. It's not just seven serious stories about science. Setting stories where they are set and not reflecting the world either side would be a bit odd. So there are some Meglosy stories. Some Leisure Hive. Some a bit more Bidmead.

Some Leisure Hive. Some a bit more Bidmead. The Master in all of Keeper - it's a sticky one. Retrospectively, yes, we look back and know that he was occupying the Melkur throughout. But at the time, we weren't made aware of his presence until the 'big reveal' (as a personal recollection, my memory of The Master from The Deadly Assassin was hazy, and Geoffrey Beevers' make up was a little different, that I wasn't even sure it was The Master until The Doctor confirmed it later). Indeed, Johnny Byrne's original script didn't feature The Master at all. But, like Seron, I concur! I agree also that Series 18 provided a lot more variety in story-telling than its often given credit for, but it did have an overall style that bled into the first half of Series 19. I hope that style remains tangible in the upcoming audios, and look forward to hearing them.
