Whilst it's true that the 4th Doctor releases are very popular, the War Doctor series is still relatively new and if you had to choose between the two, I think many would therefore opt for the latter. Well......except that customers can buy releases whenever they feel like it (unless they only want the release on CD and it's out of print). So if they don't want all that in a month or cannot afford it, they can always buy a release earlier or later. I'd prefer BF put things out whenever they are ready without regard for whatever else is in the pipeline, and it seems that's what they've been doing since I found out about them. Except that not everybody can afford to buy everything that's being released in one month, even over time and some don't like to have loads of packages turn up.

It doesn't make any sense for a business to create any needless delays because some customers might want to produce all of the product the business produces when they arrive, but cannot afford to. BF puts out their products once they're ready and there's nothing wrong with that. If someone cannot afford everything, they have to prioritize. For example, I only focus on BF releases with an official doctor in a role. If I decided I wanted to buy River Song 2, but couldn't afford it, I wouldn't complain that they aren't holding off the release for an extra two months so I could save up. In fact, I think that would be a rather selfish demand... (Ditto as to insisting on buying everything on CD but wanting a release delayed for everyone else from a dislike of packages turning up at the same time.)

I agree the timing isn't significant, every month is crowded with something or other, and to be honest I'm tempted more by this than by War Doctor, and I'm sure others will be too. The fact that some people will have to pick and choose between this and other releases is undoubtedly true but I see it as more of a function of the price point. if it was retailing at £5 per disc then people would snap it up. However I still don't see the problem. some people will buy it. some won't. I'm not sure why that's an issue, Bug Finish won't stop doing Tom Baker releases as a result. I don't mind releases coming out in one month, I just think it's strange that Big Finish don't spread them out more. You wouldn't think they'd want any classic series box set released round the same time as the next War Doctor box set.

Hang on, so are these Philip Hinchcliffe things the Baker/Manning stuff people were talking about, or something else? I'm confused.

And I finally looked at the release schedule for the month and, by Big Finish standards, it is actually pretty light. I don't understand the train of thought that it is crowded with too many upper tier releases. Take a look at May and you will see a jam packed month. By comparison a month like September barely causes a ripple.

Yep, no more crowded than most other months.
