Very surprised by how much I enjoyed this and it also gives significant new information for the Arc and when this, the Ianto and the 2 Barrowman stories from series 1 are set in relation to the TV series.

I enjoyed this and hope we continue to get more Arc-related stories for the rest of this season (anything to get it closer to an end lol). I'll have to concentrate on the placements of the stories, so I can work out just how long this arc has been going on Cheers Tony

A really good story for Tosh. I always got the sense on the show that she felt that she needed to prove herself to the others, whether or not it was true. I felt that underneath this whole story. And I love that is was all about her in the moment, and none of her pining for Owen.

And none of my pining for a full-cast Torchwood special (well not today anyway) - it's fantastic to have Tosh back and I'm very glad this was all about her. Great performances and great story, too.
Also I'm glad this story touches bases with the Committee arc, although I think I'm getting less preoccupied with that, which is okay because these have all been strong stand-alone stories anyway in my opinion. Besides, it sounds like here it's probably getting reaffirmed that it's all Jack's fault and I hate it when things are all Jack's fault. :-)

Yes, another rock solid release, and enough going on to make is seem full cast. Finally we get to appreciate the vital role played by pizza

I thoroughly, thoroughly enjoyed this release. I'm not a Torchwood devotee, I should point out, but I find both the television show and the audios something I like to dip into occasionally. Of the three audios I have, I place this just behind 'One Rule' and ahead of 'Forgotten Lives'. Naoko Mori is a great actress and Tosh is a very appealing character - it's good to see her getting the limelight to herself for a change. There was really good support from Krystian Godlewski as Ivanov, a character with great depth about whom we learned more as the story went on.
The extras talk hopefully of more adventures for Tosh, and I really hope this happens and that the range thrives despite the departure of Eve Myles.

A very solid story. I can't remember Toshiko being characterised so strongly in the series. Really hope we get more of Naoko Mori in other stories. one of the best performances in the series so far. Great supporting characters and a really focused narrative. Blair Mowat's music is always excellent, too. He's captured the feel of Ben Foster's music perfectly.

My guess is that Queen Victoria is responsible.

Yeah, I don't know if I think it goes back to Queen Victoria, but I also don't think it's Jack's fault. I assumed it goes back to a period of Torchwood when Jack was not involved.
Great little story for Tosh. Really enjoyed it.

Tosh is back! Sat down with this for the first time yesterday and hot damn it's a good 'un.
Naoko Mori's great, slips right back into character. The Russian accents were a bit much but whatever. Good story, good acting.
And some interesting wham moment reveals in regards to the ongoing storyline. Interesting stuff. I wonder what that key's for?
It seems to me, looking at the future releases and back on those that are already out, that we're getting three different categories.
1) The early seasons plot that started in The Conspiracy and has progressed here involving the ongoing fight with The Committee.
2) The post-Miracle Day stuff, set five years later, with Gwen and Rhys re-establishing Torchwood.
3) The pre-series episodes, showing things that happened between Tooth and Claw and Everything Changes.
I'm hoping we'll get some episodes set around Children of Earth (before or after is fine) just so that when I sit down for a chronological marathon the Committee stuff is scattered throughout instead of clumped up all together.

I always felt a bit bad for Naoki - it was a hiding to nothing playing Tosh. Written as the wallflower and the shrinking violet most of the time. When she did get a lead story, like To The Last Man, she was almost used as a "always the bridesmaid" character and her thing with Owen was never set up enough for the unrequited love thing to really work.
This, though, proves the character has legs to this day. She's played as introverted rather than shy - a subtle but distinct difference. She's capable and empathetic while still being focuses on the goal. I really loved that she didn't have an urgent need to go to all that trouble...it was pure scientific curiosity that made her do so. Very old-school sci-fi.
I dig that the Committee stuff seems vital one month, like this, then gets dropped. It's a fun way of doing an arc where you're not sure what will and what won't tie-in.

Opposite of The Victorian Age. Great plot and performance from Noako Mori but the Russian accents really took me out of the moment. 8/10.

I re-listened to this yesterday. Really enjoyed Tosh having a chance to shine on her own, so to speak. Very nice story.
