During the most recent Big Finish Podcast, Jason Haigh-Ellery tells Nick Briggs that he's only just had time to listen to the second War Doctor set, and the next thing he says is that he "can't wait to see what you do in the next six releases."
Wait, what? As far as WE have been told, there are four WD sets in the cards. Perhaps another four are coming but have not yet been announced?
Legitimately not sure whether it was an honest mistake, or if Jason Haifh-Ellery accidentally let the cat out of the bag...

I took it to mean six stories - three adventures per remaining two box sets, no?

Yes, six seperate stories. They clearly think of each title as a release. I can't imagine how they get this year to add up to 240 releases otherwise.

Though I certainly agree that 240 seemed rather high when they were talking releases per year. I was wondering where that number came from, but if that's how they're reading things, it certainly brings both sets of numbers into better perspective.

Incidentally this morning by adding every single story or part in each Boxset and DLOnly releases announced so far for this year including the DS Bloodlines mini-series I only get a total of 197 .

Well, we can always hope that they decide to make more stories in this range. The first two sets were fantastic.

I agree, but I think that unlike the "anything goes" nature of other Doctors' adventures, the War Doctor only has a limited scope to live and have adventures in. The Time War. He can't meet Atilla the Hun for Tea without having to explain why he's not fighting the War. He can't run off for an adventure looking for a mythic emerald with a team of eccentric archaeologists without the Emerald having to have something to do with the War.

I think that it will depend on John Hurt's health and availability. he clearly enjoys doing them and I think he'd be willing to do more, but at the same time it may just be more than he's willing to commit to at present.

I kind of think the opposite. the Time War has no limits. Whole civilisations were written and rewritten in seconds. You can completely ignore all established history and continuity, because. .. Time War. The War Doctor could turn up anywhere and find everything is different. People who we know, have changed. Perhaps he lands at UNIT on the queens jubilee, Bribbicombe-Wood is back in charge, even though he should be a schoolboy. the Brig has mysteriously retired to be a schoolteacher even though half of his adventures haven't happened yet. It's a Time War, all bets are off.

I like having a grimmer series to contrast with the usual productions (which can also be grim admittedly), and the performances have been simply great.

Well, I would be very surprised if BF aren't at least considering more War Doctor stories, the six released so far seemed to sell well and brought in many new listeners (they were very, very good stories which helped), Hurt seemed to enjoy himself recording them and certainly gave me the impression he'd be open to more, the scope and tone of time war stories gives the writers a much bigger, crazier arena to write stories in, that the era's of the other Doctors rarely allow, they'd be crazy to leave it at 12 stories if Hurt wanted to continue (I'm very much hoping he does...)...
The only potential stumbling block may be Hurt's availability, given his busy schedule, age and recent health issues I wouldn't be surprised if he and BF go the Tom Baker route and come to an agreement to 'bank' three or four years worth of stories at a time.

I think it really is down to Hurt. If he wants to continue, they will continue. Basically the same agreement they have with all of their actors.
